Talysh and Gilaki belong to the Caspian branch of Northwestern Iranian languages, which are primarily spoken in northern Iran and south-eastern Azerbaijan. In this video, we showcase some of the commonalities between them with Helen and Yasaman representing Gilaki, and Jeyhun and Kenul representing Talysh.

The Talysh language (تالشی / Tolışə / Tолышә) is classified as a Northwestern Iranian language and is primarily spoken in the southern regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the northern parts of the Iranian provinces of Gilan and Ardabil.
The Gilaki language (گیلکی / Giləki) also belongs to the Northwestern branch of Iranian languages and is primarily spoken in Iran's Gilan Province.
