Mesopotamian Kurd, Talysh and Kurds are both inhabitants of the Median empire. And both underwent cruel assimilation from Turkish nomads and both “lost” millions in Sefevid period where the main military leaders also were Kurds and Talyshes. Until Turkish-Mongol invasions we always been together in Manna, Media and in Sefevid period. May be you never knew, our spiritual leader Sheykh Zahid al-Kurdi also Kurdishman. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zahed_Gilani Kurdish tribe - Zaza people in Middle Ages from Talysh Mountains moved to Anatoly region. Why exactly would Kurdish children wanna be related to you at all? If anything you have far more in common with the Turks, Iraqis and Syrians with whom you're ganging up on my people. And for the record, there wouldn't even have been an earthquake if your fascistic Islamic government weren't doing their weapon testing underground there. We love Azarbaijan too. Greetings from Turkey.

I think you can't say that a kurmanc from turkey sounds this way and a kurmanc from iran this way. In fact, the kurmanc from diyarbakir (turkey) are like thos from qamishlo (syria), but those from sirnak are different .... it doens't depend on the state but somehow of the (small) local region where you live.
@Diranlou6 жыл бұрын
the accents are different. is the British and American accents are the same? Canadian accent and Australian accent are different. the french accent of Quebecois are different that Parisian and also their accent are different than Switzerland citizens. so why do you think the accent of Kurmanjs are the same all around the globe? then this part of Iran that I live, is not that small you think. any way I have seen so many movies about different languages, from India to Georgia, I have seen so many words, customs, traditions and foods exactly same as what I had seen in my childhood at my paternal village. so the important issue here for me is exactly those differences that has been made during decades. it means at this region there have been live civilization since ever.

A few comments for people that are interested. The person in this video speaks Northern dialect of kurdish (Kurmanji), which has preserved a lot of complicated grammatical structures that has been lost in farsi or to some extend in central kurdish (Sorani) and southern kurdish (feyi/kalhori/kirmashani/Ilami). Kurmanji for example has several tenses, nouns have gender, past tense is ergative (same in sorani) etc. It's a bit like if kurmanji was German, fasi would be English. The relationships are similar in a (grammar structural) sense. (Btw. I am myself a native speaker of southern kurdish and not the dialect spoken here, though I understand it fairly fluently.) (See bottom for rough pronounciation of kurdish words as written her in kurdish alphabet.) 1) In the sentence (I have 24 friends): "Man 24 ta doost daram". In kurmanji they mostly use heval (hewal in sorani/feyli/...) but many regions in all dialect groups also use dûst/dûs. I don't think they do in Van, where he is from. A more important thing is that southern kurdish (feyli/kalhori) has, like farsi, a verb for "to have": "daştin" (pronounced daashtn). However in Sorani and Kurmanji such verb does not exist and possession is formulated in a very different way, which is why he could not recognize it. To say "to have" in kurmanji/sorani constructions with "to exist/hebûn" are used. In my dialect (feyli) we would say (similar to farsi): Min 24 dûs/hewal dirim. In kurmanji it would be something like: 24 hevalên min hene (direct meaning: 24 friends of mine exist, or in rough farsi: 24 doostane man hastand). 2) In sentence: "Ez îşev tixe bikim" (pronounced: az ishav tkha bkm). The reason she thought it meant last night, rather than tonight is because the "az" is misleading. In farsi "az" means "from", but in kurmanji it means "I". This is one of the features lost in many modern iranic languages, but preserved in kurmanji. In english we have lost all distinction between object and subject forms of nouns, but they exist for pronouns! For example there is a difference between "I" vs "me", or "he" vs "him", "she" vs "her" etc. This distinction exists in kurmanji too (also for nouns there actually), but not in farsi. English Kirmanji Farsi I/me Ez/min Man/man You/you Tu/te To/to He/him Ew/Wê Uu/uu (او) She/her Ew/Wî Uu/uu Note not only difference between nominative vs oblique case (object vs subject), but also between genders. Had he instead of "Ez îşev tixe bikim", said "min îşev tixe bikim", I think she would've not misunderstood this part. But in kurmanji that is wrong grammar. It would sound like saying "Me work tonight" rather than "I work tonight". This difference does not exist in farsi or sorani/feyli/kalhori. Another issue is that future tense works differently in these two languages (and in his local dialect, it's slightly different from "standard kurmanji"). This makes the verb part hard to understand for persian speakers. 3) Phonology: the guy in the video mentions (9:21) that it sounds similar to farsi even if the doesnt understand the sentence. This is good observation. When it comes to phonology, kurmanji is more similar to farsi than for example sorani or feyli, despite the fact that sorani/feyli are linguistically more similar to farsi. For example where there are hard "v" and "b" sounds in kurmanji/farsi, there are often softer "w" like sounds in more southern regions. Like baran vs waran, behar vs wehar, berf vs wefr etc. 4) As mentioned in the video "pirr" is used as "a lot/many/much" in kurmanji. But in other dialects of kurdish the meaning is similar to "por" in farsi, meaning full. 5) As observed by the girl in the video, verb endings in kurdish (all dialcts) use short vowels while (standard) farsi uses long vowels. Some local dialects of farsi and lori do however use shorter vowels too. For example instead of "Kardan", we would say "Kirdin" (pronounced as kr-dn) ("i" is a very shorth vowel). Ps. when writing in kurdish above, "e" is pronounced as "a" in english. While "a" in kurdish is pronounced a long "a/آ". And the "i" is almost not pronounced. When writing in farsi, I have used english alphabet pronounciation.

element4element4 bravo!!! 👏👏👏 as a Persian speaker I fully enjoyed that. Are you feyli from Iraq? B/c in Iran we attribute Feylis to the Lurs, where my understanding is in Iraq they just fall in with the Kurds. But your deep knowledge of all the Iranian branches has me assuming you’re from Iran. I would love to see you do Ossetian, Kurdish and Persian as well. A lot of the similarities and archaic characteristics amongst Kurmanji and Ossetian. For example the “I”, Ez in kurmanji that you mentioned has also remained in Ossetian (I think it’s just pronounced Ezh). Which we see in German “iche”... which probably can be attributed to the Alans (Iranians) who united with the Germanic tribes like the Goths and vandals back in the day.

@mehmet karadoğan zaza is not a kurdish dialect, it's a distinct language from kurdish. they both are north-western iranian languages. the speakers can have the same dna or genetics, so there can be "ethnic" kurds who speak zaza, but dna or genetics don't matter linguistically. but i also think that it's kind of problematic to define ethnicities over dna results. i think that ethnicity should be defined over language and shared culture and not over dna because it's a social construct.

@Mazandaran Ball [AFA] Yes. The past year I have been trying to learn Kurdish, I still do believe the reason Persian people think they understand Kurdish (especially Sorani Kurdish, rather than other dialects of Kurdish) is because we use a lot of Persian words. I'm noticing it even more now that I'm actively trying to learn my mother tongue & it's heartbreaking to see how little Kurdish vocabulary & writting Kurdish people know! I have since realised that it's normal to have similar words or grammatical structures with Persian since they belong to the same language family but I have realised something else too! & That is just how much French & Arabic words are used in Persian! How much more untouched the real Kurdish language is & how many words Persian has borrowed from Kurdish! I'm still learning, I deleted my previous comments because since then I have gained much more knowledge & I didn't want to have something up that I don't completely agree with anymore!

May I ask which city you are from? All kurdish dialects form a continuum (like most natural languages) and they all have variations. I am myself a southen kurdish (feyli/kalhori) speaker, which is the farthest from northern kurdish (kurmanji). But I understand kurmanji speakers of Mêrdîn with no problem, but have bit harder time with kurmanji speakers from Van (where this guy is from) or Agri (ararat). The reason is very subtle differences can really affect how hard something is to understand. Even though people from Mêrdin and Van barely would notice the difference themselves.

IBetYouDidntKnowKZbinLetYouDoThisILoveBleach360NoScope420BlazeIt you have no education, Murat Gala is right! Aryan has nothing to do with German. The real Aryans were the indo-Iranians, which includes who he said. Iranian literally means Aryan, and Iran literally means Land of the Aryans, with thousands of yrs of history. Nazis is only new and irrelevant.
@Mokh77776 жыл бұрын
You must really suck at researching. You don't even have basic 101 level knowledge to know that Iranian/Aryan/Alanian are different pronunciation of the SAME exact word by the Iranian tribes. If you couldn't even find out basic things like the meaning of Iran being Land of Aryans, you can't figure out anything. We still call ourselves that to this day. We have historical sights with rock inscriptions by our ancestor kings from thousands of years ago that are UNESCO world Heritage sights, where they state they are Aryan and speak in the Aryan language. For Iranians, the term Iranian/Aryan is an interchangeable term. When you're calling someone Iranian you're by DEFINITION calling them Aryan. This is not disputed by any scholar on the planet. Iranians referred to non -aryans as "Aniran" (non-Iranians). "The name "Irān", meaning "land of the Aryans", is the New Persian continuation of the old genitive plural aryānām (proto-Iranian, meaning "of the Aryans"), first attested in the Avesta as airyānąm (the text of which is composed in Avestan, an old Iranian language" "The gentilic ēr- and ary- in ērān and aryān derives from Old Iranian *arya-[7] (Old Persian airya-, Avestan airiia-, etc.), meaning "Aryan",[7] in the sense of "of the Iranians"." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Name_of_Iran " "The term Aryan has been used historically to denote the Indo-Iranians, because Arya is the self designation of the ancient speakers of the Indo-Iranian languages, specifically the Iranian and the Indo-Aryan peoples, collectively known as the Indo-Iranians." "Indo-Iranian peoples, also known as Indo-Iranic peoples by scholars,[1] and sometimes as Arya or Aryans from their self-designation, were an ethno-linguistic group who brought the Indo-Iranian languages, a major branch of the Indo-European language family, to major parts of Eurasia." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indo-Iranians

There's nothing to suggest that Kurds originated from the Mesopotamian civilizations. Secondly, being an Aryan is more of a cultural identity. The original Aryans who did very much boast lighter traits due to living in a colder northern region ceased to exist when they settled in the Middle East. All the people who call themselves Aryans today are the linguistic and cultural descendants of the original Aryans, who were themselves absorbed into the native gene pool though still leaving behind their cultural mark. So yes, we are culturally Aryans and are therefore Aryans.

@Genghis Khan you gay Turks the term "Aryan" is also used in Zoroastrianism. Also Iran means aryan
@kingmadig90156 жыл бұрын
@@nishtimanperest3526 No ancient iranians/aryans were NOT lighter. Genetic studies of all iranian people show genetic continuety all the way back to the late bronze age, which marks the start of iranian/aryan civilisation. Stop selling your heritage & history to the white man.
@nishtimanperest35266 жыл бұрын
@@kingmadig9015 There isn't a genetic continuity between the Iranian peoples and the ancient Aryan people though. Iranian peoples call themselves Aryans, although this is more of a cultural statement preserved in culture and language, which does indeed descend from the ancient Aryans who migrated to the Middle East. There's no doubt that Iranic peoples, regardless of whether you're in Amed or Ghazni, are of mixed ethnic origin, showing high percentages of Near Eastern Y-bound haplogroups (like Mesopotamian J-DNA for example) as well as noticeable amounts of Indo-European and European heritage (R1a- and I-DNA respectively).

Turkey send their soldiers to Korea during Korean War (1950~1953). Most Korean people think the soldiers were all Turkish. But most of them were Kurdish because Turkish goverment didn't want Kurdish to live in Turkey. They helped us in spite of their situation that they didn't have their own country. So I have some interest in Kurd recently.

Jak K Me too. My English is shit. I have a question to you. I saw a comment on KZbin that Ataturk was a Kurd too and he said my comment is fake. Is it true?? Ataturk was a Kurd? I searched for Kurdish history and there were two massacre ( 1937, 1938) in Kurdistan , Eastern region of Turkey. At that time, the president was Mustafa Ataturk. Kurdish president killed Kurds?? It doesn't make sense. Do you know about it? Even Ataturk is regared as the hero of Turkey and Turkish people hate Kurds. They have worshiped their hero who is a Kurd and hate Kurds?? Please tell me what you know. You are the descent of soldier.

Twelve in Sanskrit is *Dvadash* where _Dva_ represents two and _dash_ represents ten. In Persian twelve is *Davazdah* where _Davaz_ represents two and _dah_ represents ten. Similarly, sixteen in Sanskrit is *Shodash* while in Persian it is *Shanzdah* . Sanskrit and Avestan have indeed been sister languages!!! Imagine the closeness between Ancient India and Ancient Iran!!! 😍

The relationship between the Iranic groups is growing so fastly in these days. Hope to see the lion and sun in the Iranian flag soon and hope to see the sun rising up outside of Iran. As a Kurdish and Zaza person, I care about Iran and want all the best for Iran as much as Kurds. We are a part of Iranian history and Iranian/Iranic simply. We are a family and hope to rise up together soon. All the Kurds need to educate themselves about Iran and Iranian history. They will understand that the ones who try to divide Kurds from Iranians are the enemies of both Kurds and other Iranians.

In Turkish "dost" is friend, or more like a "very close friend", "bosom buddy" or something like that. When I met a friend in India, she used the word "dost" for me in her Facebook post in Hindi after our meetup. It was a pleasant surprise for me.

I am a linguist. Kurdish and Persian are Indo-European and there are many lexemes and syntax similarities between for instance Kurdish and many European languages. For instances numbers (5, pênc in Polish, two-tou, seis, ses etc. in Germanic languges.) Que- Qi (Spanish), Toi(French) Du, (Swedish) Tu(Kurdish), Horse (häsp /Swedish, häst/ Kurdish, Mor(Latin) Mîr (Kurdish), [gyne] /Greek, Jin /Kurdish, Spasiba / Russain Spas /Kurdish, No - Na and Negation of word with (Na), Navn /Danish Nav/Kurdish, New - Ny/Swedish, Nuh /Kurdish, Nu/Swedish Nuha/ Kurdish and many many words and grammar rules. These words, lexemes are not loan-words or arbitrary formations. These are the linguistic evidence of the common ancestry between the Kurdish/Persian people and the Europeans. Read about Proto Indo-European language. I can go on to write several pages about it but I think, you got the gist. To Sim Sez: The gene variations covers only a fairly new and limited data thus deviations are more related to later mutations creating sub-groups on more superficial grounds (contemporary inter-marriages between different groups for instance). However, languages hold themselves in a more persistent way, spanning over many millennia. That is why taking language as a reference point yields a better result in tracing ancestry of different groups.

Taha Alizzy Thank you :) .. Yes, it's Kurmanji. I understand Sorani is even closer to Persian, but the reason we didn't do Sorani for this video is because our Kurdish friends here in Toronto who speak Sorani also speak Persian fluently, so it wouldn't be a challenge in the same format.
