@@ramkumarkris very true. There was a website "mayyam" and there was a discussion forum on Sivaji that went for more than 100 pages. They had a small poll within themselves to pick which is the best Sivaji movie. Gauravam with 19 votes beat all other Sivaji movies. Guaravam is my favorite and a complete one man show for more than 90 minutes. Even his acting in the club dance scene where a nervous Sivaji enjoys the dance song (adhisaya ulagam) being uncomfortable in the club is hilarious.

Happy to see 'Bale Pandiya' on the list. Sivaji Ganesan was a brilliant comedic actor as well. He was great in 'Sabaash Meena' too, and somehow seemed more relatable and effortless in his comedic roles than in his dramatic ones He was born 30 years too early, I feel. The content given to him did not do any kind of justice to his talent. Imagine him giving more naturalistic performances in the films of directors like Mahendran, Rudraiah, Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, Balu Mahendra, Kamal Haasan, Bala, Thiyagarajan Kumararaja, Nalan Kumaraswamy, etc. We got to see a glimpse of it in a couple of films. He was better in 'Mudhal Mariyadhai' and 'Thevar Magan' than in almost all his older performances... It was not that he was not brilliant at subtle and naturalistic acting... He had to cater to the audience of the 50s and the 60s and had to put up with the directors who were really not up to his standards. (S. Balachander was probably the only truly great filmmaker of that time, but they only made one film together.) Nevertheless, he is without a doubt the greatest Tamil actor ever, and one of the best in the world.

Vivek Anand, he did many comedies such as bale pandiya(with MR Radha), kalyanam paniyum brammachari (with TRR), Sabash Meena as you commented (with Chandrababu), Galatta Kalyanam (with Nagesh, Thankgavelu), Sumathi en Sundari (with Jayalalitha) and many other movies. He used to comment that he likes comedy but usually is given serious roles. Also he always had fantastic sense of humour in real life too. His scene with jil jil ramamani (thillana mohanambal, manorama) is hilarious

L M G R Sir Thousands of years has passed. But hitherto we never see a Thiru Valluvar again. In those days population increased in arithmetic ratio. But nowadays it increases in geometric ratio. So Chances should be more to see such a person again. But in practical life we never see such one great Thiru Valluvar. Like wise we can't see such type of rare persons again. Among them Sivaji is one in my opinion. As per statistical analysis if any one come again it will be a nature's gift. But possibilities are rare.

L.M.G.R. I agree with Jaganathan. This is because (as Sowcar Janaki said in her interview to rajapaatai and to YG Mahendra), nowadays actors first objective and final objective is make more money in less time (time could be call sheet days or number of years). They want to be less seen to create high demand and make huge opening upon movie release. Of the current crop of actors, the only actor who acts more movies in less time and tries variety and gives importance to story is Vijay Sethupathy. So, the probability of sivaji's feat being remotely attempted by anybody is zero. They made bale pandiya in 17 days because Sivaji had an invitation to Columbus city, USA. He made many blockbusters in same year. Nowadays, to make so many movies at such quality is impossible due to production costs and actor's greed. Most actors work may be half a year each year maximum. They rather stay home with their families and create high demand for their movies. Just las few months, Ajith's fans were going crazy without Viswasam movie news. They are just breathing now, because finally they released a trailer after 6 months of movie shooting start, lol.

Sivaji's "Ooty varai uravu" and "Irumalargal"were released on the same day and ran hundred days. Another set of films "Engiruntho vanthaal" and "Sorgam" were released on the same day and ran hundred days. Sivaji's films only has done this dual film records twice in Tamil cinema history. Dedication , functuality and determination are the qualities of Sivaji which make it possible to do such records. Even though he acted in more number of films without rest , he tried to show perfection in all of his films.
