Simmons DA2108 Drum Amplifier

Brief video talking about my Simmons DA2108 amp that I use for my electronic drum sets and for broadcasting music when I'm playing my acoustic kits. It's very easy to use as I am not tech savvy and the sound is wonderful. Can be used in conjunction with a second one and has settings for using it on the floor as well as on a stand vertically. And most importantly, it is blue tooth capable!

Just bought the DA2110 version and I was just like you worried about distortion but it plays great with my SPDSX Pro. I got a few triggers connected to my acoustic set and they come through nicely, Especially the Bass Drum Trigger. The Bass is phenomenal on these Simmons Speakers. I bought two of them and have them in a stereo configuration, again it’s pretty loud enough for me. I have my speakers on either side of me at waist height sitting about 3 ft off the floor on some printer stands I got for cheap off amazon

I have been wanting to get another amp to go along with mine as I love loud music and those speakers are awesome. Now and again, I will find one used on guitar Center site, but I haven’t checked in a little while. I probably should as I know, I have a bonus coming up pretty soon from work.

Just tried one at a Guitar Center today and I was really impressed with this little guy. It sounded a lot better than I thought it would. Only knock was it clips when bass is over half. I ended up buying it.

so I picked up The amp today about an hour or so to use it for at the work, and all I can say is WOW! seeing with you and I are indeed same age bracket and If you are then you feel as I do where was this when we were starting out, I live in Boston in the city so unless I am playing with a band going to his hall for rehearsal for practice It was really no other way to just play at home so about 5 years ago I got my first electric kit didn't expect much now I have my kit running through my laptop and up until recently we're using take cheap Amazon amp and plug my headphones in I also use the easy drummer software that completely changes the electric sound into more acoustic like kit, I can't begin to list the obvious changes this amp has made and I'm going to enjoy spending quite some time doing so but technology that's available today for budding drummers has completely opened up the instrument to a wider spectrum of people and it's through videos like this that Make the difference and drastically improve sound quality and experience all together I am now heading home from work and I'm going to spend the next 72 hours getting to know my amp😂...My name is Paul not sure if you have other social media accounts but I am always interested in connecting with fellow percussionists lol... again thank you and I will certainly try and let you know as I move further along.

@@BostonballH8ter Thank you for this feedback. I get a lot of comments regarding this amp. Simmons should buy me a coffee just for sending them the business I have. I'd like to get a second one, not only to have a spare but also, because I like it loud when I play. I also found that, if I add my remaining electronic kit in with my acoustic, the music and the electronic drums don't go well together on one amp with the drums being barely being audible over the music. A second amp would rectify this. Thank you for the comment!

I’ve told everybody that I recommend this product. It has been nothing but wonderful to me until the other day. Had a little issue because of something I did took it apart fixed it. It still works. Fabulous. Actually considering getting a second one.

@CheapDrumsGuy Nice to know its reliable! Deciding still between this and the Mackie Thump 215. I like the EQ options on this Simmons line but Ive heard that the Mackie has a bigger low end

Hey Todd. This amp is a beast. The sound that comes out of this little Gem is uncanny. Unfortunately I sold mine after 10 months with a Edrum kit to purchase the SPL Velocity shell kit. If I've been Good, Santa will be stopping in with stands and cymbals ( low volume) in 9 days. Maybe If I understand how to post...we can hear these Sweet Birch shells and if I can get a comment, other individuals can see what we see and hear. Thank you. Cold up there in Michigan Eh'

I just bought the DA 2108 with a set of Simmons SD 350 drums. haven’t checked it out yet but will soon. Have you played the Simmons SD 350 drums

No I have not but I've seen several videos on them. In all actuality, if I could go back and start all over, I probably would have picked up a pair of Simmons kits and not have gone with two different ones like I did. They seem to be good quality and have a lot of options. I do know that DA2108 amp is great though as I use it every day. I do not regret that purchase.

@@CheapDrumsGuy I purchased our son one. Can you walk me thru the hook up process. When I connect the drumset no music is coming out. I can only hear the music if the headphones are in. Thank you in advance.

@@tia5265 Hi there. Now, the drumset itself should come with instructions to hook it up with an amp. The amp also. If not, I'll try to remember. You should have a plug on the back of the drum module "output". Run the proper line from there to the drum amp "imput". You said that you only hear it on the headphones- the headphones cannot be plugged in at the same time though as it would act as the primary. When both the set and the amp are connected and on, find the knobs on the amp itself marked "imput" or something like that. Try adjusting that knob. The same goes for the aux imput. Like with most stuff, the best way is to just try pushing buttons and fiddling with things. Make sure the amp volume isn't past the midpoint as it can be very loud.

anybody else find it ironic that a video reviewing an amplifier is so quiet you can barely hear anything? c'mon musicians know how sound works- adjust your levels before uploading a video :P
