This is one of major reasons I'm going with the Simmons Titan 50...The Drum Sounds of India. Simmons has been in the forefront of eDrums, since 1978 and came after the Pollard Syndrums. I understand that just because Simmons has been around longer than Alesis, doesn't necessarily make them a better drum set. Alesis Mesh was at the top of my list of affordable eDrums, but when I found out about the preinstalled tabla sounds, I was sold. Another major factor that made my mind up was that the Titan 50 bass drum tower is designed for a single pedal or double bass drum pedals and if I went with the Alesis Mesh, I would have to buy a drum tower that was compatible with double bass pedals. The only extras that I need with the Simmons Titan 50 expanded set, is a throne, double bass drum pedals and sticks.
@Rompler_Rocco Жыл бұрын
I agree these sound really nice! But strangely, there is no lineage between the original Simmons and these. I believe Simmons went out of business in the 90's, and Guitar Center later bought their trademark. So, these are actually just modern, Chinese-made e-kits with the Simmons branding added by Guitar Center. I had to figure this out when I noticed Sam's Club selling cheap Simmons kits about 15 years ago, and they were the worst quality e-drums I had ever seen or heard. But they have obviously come a long way! And, come to think of it, Alesis didn't start making full kits until right around that same time 🤔
@jameslanclos568 Жыл бұрын
I did not know that, thanks for the info. I still prefer the Simmons Titan though. It's a tough choice, I could go either way when I'm ready to buy it.@@Rompler_Rocco
@Rompler_Rocco Жыл бұрын
@@jameslanclos568 Agreed! I'm also definitely leaning towards a Titan kit :)
@jameslanclos568 Жыл бұрын
@@Rompler_Rocco I believe that it's the best for the money. The bass drum pad can easily accommodate a double beater pedal whereas the Alesis bass drum pad doesn't. It will work but barely, because each beater hits the outer rim of the pad and not the center. The Titan has plenty room for 2 beaters. Not only that, I like the different sound catalog of the Titan over the Alesis sound catalog or list or whatever you call it.

Hey Justin.Thanks for this demo. This is what most drummers want to see/hear when a new kit is released. So impressed with this module and internal sounds. Do you know if they will sell the module separately to use with other brand pads?

Thank you! No, they have no plans to sell it separately. But you could buy the whole kit for less than a Roland TD-17 module, haha.

@demonicsweaters Жыл бұрын
It really just depends on you budget and situation. If you want something in the $300 range this is the best for electronic drums. If you live somewhere where you can be loud, you may also want to consider acoustic drums.
@caputo116 Жыл бұрын
@@demonicsweaters I actually do want acoustic drums but my current situation doesn’t allow for it. These drums or $400 where I live, so I was wondering if it’s worth it or not

How does the bass kick pedal feel to you? I tried this set at guitar center. I found the pedal frame to be wobbly despite the fact that they Velcro it to the carpet. It also squeaked a lot. And the real kicker (see what I did there...) I had to hit it fairly hard to get the sound to trigger, harder than it looks like you are in this video. Thanks for the demo!
@demonicsweaters2 жыл бұрын
For me it’s very stable, but my only real criticism is it is pretty hard feeling. This could probably be relieved with a tennis ball beater though.

Hi Great video How dose this stack up to a Roland td1dmk ?
@demonicsweaters2 жыл бұрын
Both are good kits. The roland will cost you a bit more, doesn't have a true kick tower, smaller pads, less powerful module, but it is a roland, so you know the quality will be good, higher resale value and has dual zone cymbals.

Great demo! I've read the cymbal inputs are all in one zone only, but could you repurpose one of the dual zone Tom inputs to be a dual zone cymbal?
@demonicsweaters2 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried that, but my experience is dual zone cymbals usually don't work well on tom inputs. You could however map more cymbals to tom rims if you had dual zone toms.

Idk but for me the sound quality of the kits sounds higher quality then my Simmons sd1250
@demonicsweaters Жыл бұрын
Well it is a newer kit. However, I think a lot of that just comes from the fact that the Titan has built-in compression. I've recorded both of these kits and used them in music, and I still think the SD1250 has better overall sounds, and more of them. You just have to tweak it a bit more to get the best results.
