I live in Iran, and I'm trying to go vegan. Though I must say it is relatively difficult, for we don't have a lot of vegan "products" you guys have in american/europian countries. Stuff like Tofu, Tempe, Seitan, etc, are either impossible to find or extremely rare (at least, I haven't seen any). Luckily, we do have most of the "fresh", "fruity" and "earthy" stuff! But the vegan industry is quite lazy here, and it does not produce a lot of useful vegan things (like all the sauces, ingredients and things you can't grow😅🤦🏻♂️). Thank you for the amazing videos! I'm 22, and I have just started my journey in veganism (still not a real vegan, but getting there!) And I'm doing research, so videos such as this help me a lot! Thank you again :)
@KL894523 жыл бұрын
There's a tonne of traditional vegan recipes from the Middle East like Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon using cheap ingredients like beans, chickpeas, rice, bulgur wheat, and lots of fresh local veggies. You don't need any 'vegan' products. They're just a stepping stone to going fully vegan for people who miss eating flesh and calf food products.

Hey I was having a general chat about nutrition the other day (as us vegans do 🙄😂) and someone made the point that blending fruits and veggies changes their nutritional complexity and loses some nutritional value, is this something you’ve discovered or ever researched?
@copyofacrow26633 жыл бұрын
It's not something I have heard of but what it comes down to is your getting a complex of nutrients that you wouldn't get through drinking a typical drink you can get at a store. Which is what most of these people are drinking everyday. They can make make their arguments about how plants aren't perfect but that doesn't defeat the fact eating plants that are losing nutrients through processes like blending against eating the average diet is still 30x more healthy.

So, I made Derek’s Instant Pot brown rice/lentil stew. OMG. BEST ever. I had to have 2nds, even though my firsts would have been 3 spoonfuls for our Derek. SO good. Thank you for that meal preparation. It actually worked. I doctored it up with 2 teaspoons of dried mushroom powder, and 2 teaspoons of Better Than Bouillon vegetable soup base. I also added a bay leaf to help with excess gas from the French lentils. The addition of marinara sauce, oh my, that was genius. I also added a chopped parsnip, and didn’t add the sweet potato, as the parsnip is an excellent sweet taste. I also pan-cooked chopped leeks with water first, 4 carrots, 4 small peeled red potato. Washed many times the lentils and brown rice several times. Set it for the “bean/chili” setting, and then kept the lid on it an extra 25 minutes. The potatoes and lentils dissolved into a “cream” texture. Oh my, so tasty. Now, how will I warm up the leftovers? Derek would have eaten the entire pot, okay, maybe Crystal would have eaten a bowl, but I don’t do the hard workouts that Derek does. I recommend this dish to everyone. I also sliced the most perfect avocado, and had half of that, and half of a home-grown orange tomato. I am very happy right now (even though tornadoes are happening in my area now).

Could anyone provide some advice on protein content from sprouting from beans and legumes?? Mung. And chickpea beans have like 20-25 gms of protein per 100gm when raw. But when sprouted/germinated what all changes are possible on protein basis?? Im asking primarily on protein basis, as in just combining 2 or more of those beans and legumes in total of 100gms and consume it. Google says 100gms of sprouted mung beans have like 4gms of protein but it might be water weight, not what 100gm of RAW mung beans when sprouted are, am i making sense??
