The original artwork wasnt rescanned for the anniversary edition, the film that they shot from the artwork was what was rescanned. I actually think the larger sized edition printed a little darker than previous editions on certain pages. But its really cool seeing it at a larger size.He used a lot more splatter than i thought, seeing the art blown up like that.

Oh, that’s wild! I didn’t know they rescanned from the original film instead of the artwork itself. And yeah, the splatter! It’s crazy how much texture and chaos he packed in there. It’s one thing to see it at regular size, but when it’s blown up, you can really see just how much he threw at the canvas.

Thanks for sharing I have nearly purchased Bisleys comics in the past online but I never knew what the contents was like. More tempted now. What other comics by him would you recommend? I always like the way he drew his women too ( maybe there isn't lots of that in slaine? )

If you're lookin for that prime Biz goodness, I'd start with the Lobo run he did with Keith Giffen. It's pure chaos and killer linework. Bodycount with Eastman and Laird is another banger, full of that wild energy we love. If you wanna see his flair for drawing women, check out Melting Pot or F.A.K.K. 2 with Kevin Eastman. Those books showcase some awesome female characters, drawn in that signature Bisley style.

@@Sketchcraft Thanks so much dude. Before I make any purchases, just curious if you have any videos of the ones you just mentioned?

@@SketchedbySte This is our first big Bisley deep dive, so we haven't hit those other books yet. Uncle Jerk is pumped to tackle Body Count next, so if folks dig this Slaine talk, we'll definitely rev up that conversation. And if things keep rolling, I'd love to jump into F.A.K.K. 2 too. We gotta keep feeding that Bisleymania :)

Judgement on gotham, abc warriors: black hole & judge dredd (from a series of short dredd strips for rock power magazine that's been collected & reprinted a bunch of times, so not sure of the exact title, my version is simply Dredd by Bisley)

When Slaine the Horned God was released back in the early naughties as a double volume set and at a time when the GTA games were in vogue. I really wanted some body to do a open world game about Slaine set in Tir-Nan-Og as a GTA clone (Hijacking Dragons instead of cars) using either Simon Bisley or Glenn Fabry's new color work (in Slaine Demon Killer/Queen of the Witches...) or even Mike MacMahons work as the art style for the game. Heck, I love to see a Slaine clone of the Warhammer 40K Dawn of War using the Clint Lanely work on Slaine set during the Books of Invasions with his latest photoshopped art style...

Yo, that’s a killer idea, man! Slaine in an open-world game like GTA but swapping out cars for dragons? Bruh, I’m ALL IN. Hijacking dragons in Tir-Nan-Og sounds like chaos in the best way possible, imagine the mayhem you could cause while wielding the Brainbiter. 🤯 Great comment, dude!

Slaine shook artwork in the UK when it came out. Love some of the earlier work but Bisley creating fully painted work changed 2000AD - for at least a decade. Often in a fantastic direction (although I'm still pained the final chapter of Zenith was pushed into colour - and away from the fantastic ink style).

Man, I can only imagine how mind blowing it was to see Bisley storm the scene in real time. It's like he dropped a comic nuke on the stands. I've caught a few art legends as they were rising, but when I finally stumbled on Bis, he had already set the place ablaze. There's so much raw attitude in every line he draws and every color he splashes, you can practically hear his vibe screaming off the page. Total game-changer, no question.

Be careful what you ask of Pat Mills about his work especially his work on Slaine. It's been well documented that he wasn't paid properly for his work on the Slaine the Horned God. He can be touchy if you ask him the wrong questions...

Oh, man, good lookin' out with the heads-up. Uncle Jerk’s got a knack for walking that fine line between charm and chaos, but I'll make sure he steers clear of those landmines with Pat Mills.

@@Sketchcraft Have you seen the 2000Ad Magazine made film called Futureshock. It's about all the people who have work and still work for 2000AD magazine. You would get a very good idea about Pat Mills from watching that.
