I've studied opera for over 30 years. I sing for myself..I would never have the nerve to do this. So I applaud those who get up there do great or get ripped apart..because getting up there is half the battle. My heart broke for Emma. Her parents are awful. When you practice at home you need to turn off the radio or whatever you are singing to, sing it acappella and record play it back and listen to it.

I use to do that, as a teen. I had a couple cassettes that had a tract without vocals...I'd record myself sing with it, then record myself singing harmony with myself. Play it back. Also record a capella. I don't have a solo voice...but it still helped me to be the best I can be, and I did go on to sing with a ladies group in my church. I was 7 or 8 when I started recording myself. I think I was 8 when I learned how I sounded on a recording was how I sounded to others. That was rough...but I continued to record myself and then work on improving. Initially I couldn't stay on key to save my life. At the time my dream was to be reporter and be on the radio. So I practiced that mostly, but singing as well. I was homeschooled and had a lot of time on my hands lol.

I have an okay voice and I can sing in tune, and I'm probably better than at least 50% of these people, but I would never ever ever think I could do this as a career. Because they literally can't hear how bad they are. Tone deafness is a real thing! Plus, they likely have had people compliment their singing just to be nice, all the while knowing there was no pressure of them actually mwking it. Eh sometimes- maybe even mostly. I think there's a few people that he's just unnecessarily cruel to. Some of the pig headed auditioners deserve it, sure. But the kid he called "useless" wasn't "true." Yeah he was a bad dancer, but that doesn't make him a useless human being. And the kid was very well mannered before Simon said that. The kid responded poorly, but Simon was just unnecessarily mean there. There's some singers that were at least decent singers and he says they're the "worst" he's ever heard. I knew from the start, that Simon's "meanness" was somewhat of an act. He's actually a great judge and seems to have a good heart. In show biz, one has to get used to criticism much worse than Simon offers AND if he is impressed, he is truthful and encouraging. He seems to have mellowed a LOT since the birth of his son. Also, as "sharp" as his criticism is at times, he is not without compassion and sensitivity. His tears are sincere and speak volumes to me. Bottom Line...Simon's programs have presented some rather amazing talent from all over the world, which creates inspiration for many, that is a needed ingredient for the show and the world! ☺

MY Absolute favorites so far have been Josh, who sang "Jealous", a Labrinth cover, and that Precious, Brave and Immensely Talented and inspiring Jane ‘Nightbirde’ Marczewski, who sadly, has since passed. She touched my heart and soul like no other and her music is playing all over the world. I am still so sad about her passing. The original she performed, "It's OK" almost had me convulsing in my crying. I will never forget that beautiful Angel! I believe that anyone who has had the privilege of hearing her story and voice will remember her as well! No doubt, she touched the hearts of millions!! SIGH!💙💙💙💙💙RIP, Sweet Angel!

I didn't realize people this bad show up. I expected people that knew they were good. My friend tried out, and he is a good entertainer, just wasn't good enough. So I expected better than him at least. I was kinda surprised he didn't Make it to the first round.

In all sincerity, I've been rather impressed with some of the spectacular talent I've enjoyed and when little kids blow the roof off with theirs, it's what I enjoy most about X Factor and shows like it. I was never very interested in these shows before I began viewing clips on You Tube. I think that when we watch, it also nourishes our own creativity. I so enjoy being entertained by more talent than lack of talent I've seen on the show. So my NO is now a rousing YES! 😊
