Simon you truly were the very best and sad to say that until today I did not know you had passed on :( You WERE the greatest and when you think of the likes of J.Ross and the like on tv today...they are a disgrace and no matter how offensive they are they still keep their job`s and get astonomical salary`s. Where Simon Dee had more talent in his little finger then any of them on tv now. Oh and you were handsome, and cute! Simon R.I.P.

Dee's story is quite astonishing. From having absolutely everything one minute, he was thrown out of TV, the door was locked behind him and then never let him back ever again... Ever.

OMG ! - Simon Dee is now 73. He was good and of course he frightened the establishment of the time. I think the Simon Dee clips I've seen on Utube (so far) all prove that. He played (and many others of course) a part in bringing about change on radio and tv in the 60s that was much needed- We still (UK) need less dumbing down and more intelligent and thought provoking quality radio and television- We cant keep leaving it to the BBC and the odd documentary from across the other tv channels

He bombed his career big time. He had it all, and threw it away. Thanks Bill Cotton, thanks David Frost. But sadly Simon Dee assisted.

Well... He does say he's 70 in the The Simon Dee Story - Channel 4 TV (2) clip. The clip is 3 years old ?? Whatever his age he made good radio and tv chat shows. What is real age then ?

Simon Dee left the BBC abruptly, but landed himself a 100000 for a two-year contract with LWT. Simon's slot was after David Frost's, who just happened to be on the management at LWT I believe. I'm not saying Simon was an angel, but eventually Frost and Co. were baying for Simon's blood. He said later that Frost tried to sabotage his show. If only he had seen it coming, but he made some poor decisions and upset the wrong people.

jonathan Woss is a lower class version of simon dee. but joan blakewell was the thinking man's crumpet when she was younger. obviously, she has aged now, not too badly, not too goodly either!! but she must be about 80. sadly, we cannot all stay young at 80. maybe young at heart, though. and if your brain cells are working well, the rest of you stays young, you see!!

He was born 28th July 1935, and is therefore 73. He didn't really frighten the establishment. He just annoyed them. He also annoyed me. I was 19 when Dee Time started. It was called that because it used to go out around 6 pm (Dee Time/tea time, geddit?) on a Saturday. It was something to watch while you waited for Doctor Who. His particular trait was to do as much talking as his guests. These days, J. Ross is just as bad, admittedly, but Ross can be funny. Dee never was.

I remember Dee time and he was chatty. But he was also witty and charming, while J Ross is a rude, foul, dullard who never loved anything as much as the sound of J Ross..

He must have seriously upset some influential people to have been blackballed by an entire industry. That must have been more that just arrogance.
