Not sure what you lads were watching to be honest. Notice how Peter decided to side step the expectations at Man utd? That's because his argument died right there. There is no demand, just an expectation from talented players that earn lots of money. Other countries have similar standards and have sacked managers off the back of outcomes that didn't match them. This isn't exclusive to England. Nobody is saying they will win it, people want to see the players perform their best. I understand that armchair fans may not be able to grasp this, but when you pay huge amounts to support these players, with it comes expectation. There is little reason to believe that England couldn't and shouldn't go deep in this tournament. I hope you can scale back on the anti England rhetoric.

I find it something of a get out clause for english pride, to say we have great players but bad managers ( like: it's not the players fault that our management is so bad) . Actually the players have to take a portion of the responsibility. Because to have success as a manager you need managable players. Southgate is poor but England are not as good as Simon thinks they are. The Premier League is good but English players are not massively represented and the amount of foreign players hinders English player development at the elite level. Many talented domestic players find themselves trying to work their way up from lower leagues like Adam Wharton for example, and until they do that they won't be considered for England. Who's to say there isn't a younger, more athletic and effective full back playing in the Championship that couldn't rival or do a better job than Trippier on the left of England's defence?

Schmeichel talking himself around the houses and making no sense at all. Two teams arrive at the final and one team wins, has little to do with the manager. Surely it has a lot to do with the manager. The team plays in the image of the manager, the manager organises them. I don't think Southgate should be manager, yet what Schmeichel said was clearly logical. England have a lot of quality in the midfield and attack, but man for man there are better teams/squads. Fact is, the defence is a potential weak point, given there is no natural left back, and they are relying on an inexperienced centre back alongside Stones.

PS were a top world class goalkeeper AND a constant motivator for his team mates during matches AND able to wind up the fans when he knew his teammates needed to feel the fans. Had Peter taken managerial courses he could have been a world class manager as well and be the person that could save Man U today. Unlike the English pundits Peter understands the psychology behind creating momentum as a TEAM in an international tournament. Mind you Peter won the EURO´s as a goalkeeper for Denmark in 92 where they entered as ultimate underdogs because they came in as last team in last second because of the war in Yugoslavia preventing that national team from being part of the EURO´s that year. Some of Denmark´s players then, already had gone on summer holiday and were flown back from their destinations around the world. I saw every one of their matches in 92 and THEIR manager, that knew a thing or two about psychology as well, promised them beers and burgers for a win, while all the other team were eating spaghetti and salad. The MOMENTUM you create INSIDE the TEAM are KEY and one of the reasons Denmark often goes far in tournaments. Danes back their team and cries with them if it goes bad and celebrate, when it goes good. They are in it TOGETHER. England and English fans EXPECT wins and nothing else will do and they will throw them to the sharks, in every sense before, during and after in that light of expectations. It´s an unhealthy, non constructive culture. Peter are the level headed man, that have the right perspectives. His praise of Southgate regarding the media and the leaks are thus very valid, since that are step 1 in creating the possibility for that internal togetherness and potential for the psychological momentum build up. Some, hereunder me, then might question Southgates strategy on the pitch, but result wise it have not been bad. As Peter correctly pointed out, England went to the final last time. There can only be one winner from such a situation. But that were pretty damn close to the ultimate success. And Brits should have been more grateful for that.

Luck. Can't win without it. Not at that level. I wish that Peter Schmeichel, who played for the danish national team, told the story of the 1992 danish team that won the european championship. Yes, they won it all and they beat the world champions, the Germans, 2-0 in the final. The danish team did not even make it out of the group stage to qualify for the European Championship(and they had outstanding players). However, Lady Lucky got them in to the final tournament and Lady Luck stayed with them to the end.

Everyone keeps saying how good England were in the first 30 mins against Serbia. The reality is Sebia sat back and allowed England space. After the goal Serbia came out to attack and then England struggled. All the talk before the tournament was about how to break down defensive teams. Other teams have looked at England's recent, pre-tournament games, and are taking advantage. Slow, negative.
