As a Newcastle fan, I'm all in on Eddie Howe right now. I'd be gutted if he was slung after this poor run. It happens to the best of them. I don't think the Sunderland win offers much in his favour, but loss would have been a disaster for him. He still needs to build his reputation up and will only get there with the support of the fans. Once he gets the rep, he'll attract the top players. But I'm damn proud of him and the boys stepping up and going hell for leather every game. Gordon's attitude has been particularly impressive this season. We're all in this journey together. "Howay the lads!".

Almost every single video of Simon Jordan talking about Newcastle is about Howe not being the man for the long term. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not, but does every single conversation they have always have to lead to that topic. I don't get this hyperfixation.

It’s cos he got embarrassed telling Amanda staveley live on talksport that the Saudi takeover wouldn’t happen, he’s been snotty towards Newcastle even since then. He might have a point about Eddie not winning anything but I think he’ll come damn close, it’s just down to how patient the ownership are with him.

@@hjc9912 you're right about the Europa, of course, but the other result was it of his hands. And when he brought on a second striker, they were still in the CL. Milan were truly and utterly bereft of confidence, structure, and ability. Newcastle could have had half a dozen (Milan could've had a few as well, granted). But that game was won no matter what. No need to change a single thing, they were all over Milan. I'm not a newcastle fan, though I've lived here over 40 years since birth. But if I was, I'd be asking serious questions about his long term abilities. Did great last season, but the players are worked far too hard, too often, and that's down to the managers. @@herrzyklon Howe brought on Isak because Gordon was absolutely blowing, other than that he had no other options on the bench because of injuries. Milan had the luxury of bringing on Jovic, Okafor and Chukwueze to win the game. It went to 1-1 from a set piece which can happen at any time and is nothing to do with tactical approach, then Howe either consigned us to the Europa or went for it, and he chose to go for it. As I said if we score he looks a genius and is lauded for going for it.

Let’s at least get the facts correct. Newcastle may have the wealthiest owners, but they are NOT the wealthiest club. Until FFP allows owners to invest at a similar level Newcastle will remain unable to compete with the traditional top 4 financially. Same goes for other clubs outside the mega-rich 4 or 6.

Why does he always act like Klopp has been at Liverpool nearly 8 years and won zero and finished 8th in his first 3 seasons? It’s impossible to just buy the league now it takes time and even more restrictions now than ever before so it’s a limited advantage Nufc have compared to what City had for years. CONTEXT is important , something Simon only picks and chooses when to remember Eddie already has enough credit in the bank with fans without winning something and if he was to win any trophy , he’d have a statue outside

The same pundits who thought Tripper was a bad signing. The same pundits that once again are just looking for any Newcastle related story. The vast majority of fans understand why we had a slump and are still fully behind both Howe and the board. If you want to discuss something from the weekends game, how about talking about the homophobic abuse and threats screamed at Newcastle fans by the home supporters, the ones circulating SM at the moment. I thought that behaviour had zero tolerance but it seems to be perfectly acceptable if aimed at Newcastle.

What a pleasure to watch flowing Football without so much forensic examination which led to "old-fashioned" entertainment with only stoppages for injuries and Subs and, of course, the unbridled joy of natural, spontaneous celebrations without worrying about someone's toenail being 1/4 inch offside and getting a muted, secondary celebration from a Big Brother Screen, 4 minutes later.Yes, there will be an odd costly error there ALSO is WITH VAR. Simon talks about Howe not being the man to win us something - Why? Eddie Howe has already achieved so much in his managerial career. He transformed Bournemouth from a club in the 4th tier of English football, to what is now got some stability as a Premier League outfit. He was relegated with Bournemouth ultimately. But the Jurgen Klopp that he sits and praises as being some sort of different breed of manager has a relegation to his name also. Jurgen took that, learned from it, then went on to achieve greatness at Dortmund and then Liverpool. Eddie is in that very process in my mind, and I'm willing to give him all the time to transform alongside our club into an elite manager. He's already excelled at Newcastle - comfortably saving us from a position no premier league team had ever survived from, and then achieving Champions League on his first full season. He has had a completely new experience in managing an extra competition alongside the worst injury crisis I've known at Newcastle, and I back him to learn from it. Eddie Howe's Black and White Army!

Dear me, Simon Jordan mentioning Klopp and Guardiola as examples of Premier league successful winners. Pep has won 5, Klopp has won 1, same as Ranieri, Dalglish, Pellegrini, Mancini, Conte and Ancelotti. Klopp is a very good manager but he is not in the same postcode as Pep.

I think Simon forgets what Eddie Howe has done in his carear. Saving Bournemouth from non-existence, spiraling them up the leagues into the premier league. Telling us winners look like Klopp and Pep is such a ignorant comment to state, you can easily come up with that because like everyone else you're watching them win stuff (pep mainly). I'd like to see either of those managers cope in the positions Eddie has been in.

I agree with Simon. When Howe came I thought he was the wrong choice - but that was because I didn't see him being the manager to win a Prem title or major silverware. Howe did well last season - but lets not forget it coincided with the fall of Chelsea and Man Utd. I think the Saudi owners will find someone else in 2025.

we have to face facts; losing to sunderland would have seen the end of howe... we have only beaten sheff utd away this season... but in our defence; injuries have crippled us, so maybe not the best time to judge eddie howe... wait until he has a full squad to pick from, then see...

I think Simon is bang on here,he is part of the journey this club is going to go through,I think they the owners are very impressed with where they have got so far,but I’m convinced he will make way when they start getting in the big hitter players, like an mbappe,to get them over the line There are only a few managers in the world who can manage the real superstars It’s a win win for Newcastle fans and I know they will remember Eddie as a spring board manager sadly not the messiah Although personally I would love it to be him he’s a wonderful breath of fresh air But just look at klopp yesterday he changed tactics at half time at Arsenal and smashed it,that’s special

What I would be worried about as a magpie fan is that all 3 goals were GIFTED to them by SAFC. They should be absolutely spanking a team like Sunderland regardless of rivalry - 3-0 looks good on paper but one own goal, one BS penalty and a terrible defensive mistake does not mean you’re a good team

100% with you on this one... fulham were all over us until the red card... we are desperately short in midfield... we need ball winners who can give the ball to bruno, because he can play... willock & murphy coming back will be massive in that respect... then we need two forwards... wilson has legs made out of glass... so even though i don't believe howe will start next season, the future looks promising for nufc...

I must have watched a different match than you, I'm a Sunderland supporter but even I could see that NUFC were far better on the day. We gifted them three goals, but the work their players put in to earn those gifts, was a big difference between the two teams. We kept giving the ball away, all over the pitch, and only had 2 shots on target, both in the second half.

Can't decide Eddie Howe's future this season because the team suddenly has to challenge ALL sorts of cups, domestic & europe. Look at West Ham last season, the extra games did to them in EPL. Brighton this season also sue to european games. Its going to take the team time & investment to balance so many games. Fact we have Miley playing first team, fantastic lad no doubt but that shows how paper thin the squad is. Barnes & Tonali situation just unfortunate.

Winning against a mid table championship team isn't an achievement at all. I think tha Howe sacking is a matter of time. To avoid this, the guy has to win or at least not lose in January. He hasn't showed this year that he's capable of doing that.

Graeme is as "Professional" as ever. Jim hands the lead to him not expecting Joker Graeme to immediately throw a question about who was the Ref when neither was paying attention and looking at their respective notes, assuming Graeme was going to take it away. "Was it, er, Pawson? Polson, er,," then silence until Jim is forced to pay attention to intervene when Souey should have spent 30 seconds looking it up before he spoke. Then he hesitated over criticizing VAR and then thrown a hand grenade by Jim when Newcastle won a Trophy and GUESSED "er,1959" which is an unhelpful merging of "1955"=Domestic (F A Cup) and 1969 (European Inter-Cities Fairs Cup) Brilliant
