Wonderful song, full of sultry heat and repressed sexual desire, which is finally satisfied in the piano postlude, when the implication of the last lines of the poem "Que ton plus beau sourire et ton meilleur baiser / Me récompensent de l'attente ! " ("Let your loveliest smile and your most ardent kiss / Recompense me for waiting!") is made absolutely explicit. Listen to the shudders in the left hand at 4:50 and 4:58!
