Simon has the best sounding toms in the business. His tuning of them is meticulous. His whole kit always sounds so good. I saw this lineup some years back and they are absolutely phenomenal.

I love the show they've put up her3, all great and stellar performance, the guitar is a bit underrepresented to my soundguy ears while the sax is a weebit over but th3n thats all within "sounds very good" just minor details. The music and musicianship stands out far, all of those musicians know how to run the show and had devoted their lifes to their music and i dare to say you can hear it. Especially love Simons playing in conjunction with the bassplayer, when the keyboarder plays thrills simon answers them on a ride and so on and so on. They all listen to eachother and back eachother up in many ways, was a fun night for the musicians involved, i know that from watching it. Pity i missed out on this evening.

Niceto hear some cool smooth jazz with some funky underpinnings at the Biscuit. I have to hand it to the FOH engineers at the club. They always manage to dial in a good well balanced soundstage for each of the instrumentalists performing. It really makes a huge difference. In live music settings.
@bahusofriends54674 ай бұрын
As a FOH Engineer in another venue on another continent (europe) i say that it's easy to work with guys who know what to do and it's not that difficult to dial in a killerssound for those musicians.

If I had to pick and all time favorite drummer, it would have to be Simon. He and Jeff Porcaro are the two most melodic, musical drummers I have ever heard (and that includes most of the 'greats'). It is not surprising that Simon became Toto's drummer after Jeff's death. Simon's kit is always tuned to perfection, and that really adds to his amazing technical skills set. He has just gotten better with age. I hope he's around for many more years.

There are moments when music begins to decline over time, such as fusion, it gets tiring to hear more of the same, same melody and same rhythm, I say this with great respect to the musicians. That style is already dead for me. It produces headaches and mood tension.
@bahusofriends54674 ай бұрын
And so you feel obliged to let the world know about it. How nice of you, now we are all aware of the fact that this kind of music is a. dead and b. an endless repetition of the same notes over and over. Surprise, music can not be reinvented when it comes down to the repetition of notes because the amount of notes (in western music) is strictly limited. Repetition is part of the concept. I repeated from bach to händel over to grieg and paganini over and over again and found it quite amusing and contrary to the repetition that occured i was able ro create something new every time i sat down and was at it. Are you a musician? I guess you're not. To ke you are a consument of what others breathe and live their whole entire life. If i had to chose between selling you a 200$ Ticket or giving it away for free to somebody truly loving the kind of music i play you guess what i opt for. In case you don't: i will give the ticket away for free to the guy that loves what i play and miss out on the cash. That's why i'm not rich at 60 and probably never will be. So what. I'm at peace with what i'm doing, i love what i play and if someone doesn't like it he doesn't need to be here to listen. There's no point in criticism when the aim of the critic is to tell an artist that his art is already dead. Surprise! The artist probably sooner or later will be dead too. No one walks out of here alive. Thata to distant for you right now to realize but it will catch up with you sooner or later and judging by the hynris of your words it will catch up rather faster on especially you..... Death closes in on you like a thief at night the bible is saying and i think this picture describes it all very well. To me this music is a sacred thing and i listen to a very nroad range of music. I cherish the devotion put into the effort of playing such music, i cherish and adore the musicianship and skill that every participant had put into his life in order to make it into this band and then the effort of playing the musically daunting songs. If you don't like them then go away, leave and never come back. I won't miss you. Gtf.
