He was warming up, and then he set the interview on fire. Amazing thoughts!

Let's see what he says on this topic when the economy is in a serious recession, equity growth capital can't be raised, and interest rates are higher. Everything he's talking about is fluff, enabled by low interest rates and where we are in the economic cycle.

@@ismypartygirl7511 - I'm sure that people like Bob Chapman (the CEO at Barry-Wehmiller), Herb Kelleher (founder of Southwest Airlines) and Jim Sinegal (founder of Costco) would strongly disagree that it's fluff; they've been doing things like this for years - which is why Simon often uses them of examples of how it can be done - and why it SHOULD be done.

I’ve listened to his TED Talk a long time ago and some of it did resonate. But hearing this whole interview on their website really made things very clear for me. I urge you to watch it if you are struggling with your team’s production lacking the metric and the consistency. I learned a lot and I will use it moving forward.

I think there's a real lack of leadership training. It's so painful to work with managers that don't know how to lead. Thanks for sharing this video!

Such an honest and inspiring take on how to build a great company culture! I loved your take on the importance of knowing WHY you do what you do at work over WHAT you do. I’m a believer in strong company culture and my motto is that “it’s all about people”. I have a video over on my channel about the company culture at my company, O2E Brands. Thanks for the awesome content! Can't wait to watch more :)

Tony Hsieh is a brilliant leader. I think there are generally two schools of leadership thought: company-focused and employee-focused. Warren Bennis vs Jack Welch. Welch might make one person rich. Bennis will enrich everyone involved.

When u use a mac your definitely in a different position than when your using a dell. I believe you should provide your employees with a good position relatively which will create a bit of more isolation and focus on what they are and you are doing and thus higher quality

Leadership IS a skill. But it's based on empathy. If you're self-centered, I don't hold out a lot of hope that you'll ever be a great leader, regardless of how much training you receive.

entrepreneur is too vague broad and subjective a word to take as meaning anything precise. Id say in this context he meant an atypical unconventional, or at least non stereotype, person

toxic work place is a real thing and we need to shine more light on it to change our sociopathic corporate culture. begin with healing individuals so we don't continue the cycle of trauma. here's my experience with toxic workplace: www.mybreathingmind.com/blog/you-might-not-be-as-safe-as-you-think-you-are-at-work

A business can focus on their workers, or on their bottom line. If they focus on the bottom line, they will squeeze the workers, and destroy the company. If you say you focus on customer service, you are a weak willed liar; your focus is on the bottom line.
