Simone Biles And Other Gymnasts That Were SAVED By Their Spotters!
Welcome back to Sports Dive. It is quite confusing that some people think that spotters at gymnastics are just for show, and extra added personnel in the field. Perhaps those people do not know that these spotters are life savers. Presenting Moments Gymnasts Were Saved By Their Spotters.
Gymnast spotters are mostly the coaches as well. Of course, they will be the first one to know if their gymnast commits a routine mistake that might end up to a fall or an injury. These coaches need not only a presence of mind, but likewise these coaches must have quick reflexes. Watch this video, as we highlight Moments Gymnasts Were Saved By Their Spotters.

So much wrong with this video. Simone? click bait. Not even in the video. As previously mentioned, his comment about the trampoline spotters is exactly why they have them. But what bothers me most is his comments about the girl he says “was actually kind of pretty” and would like to thank the spotter on behalf of her future husband. Who says that?!? So sexist, disgusting, disrespectful, disturbing, and appearance based. Just because she’s blonde doesn’t mean she’s the only attractive one. All of these people are gorgeous and no one deserves to be objectified. Please remove this video. Highly inappropriate, especially since most female gymnasts are young girls.

His comments about the trampoline spotter kind of annoys me. Like the reason why you have multiple spotters for the apparatus is precisely for these reasons, to catch the athletes if they fall! Depending on where they are in the air, the gymnastics may be falling from 10-15 ft, which would be a huge impact on whatever part of the body they come down on. Without the spotters there they could legitimately paralyse themselves or cause severe breaks. Spotters know what they sign up for, and yes they may not expect to get a bit of a bash to the head, but they know they are there to save the athletes

“She was actually pretty … it would have been a shame if she had lost a tooth”?! i owe my coach my life. When I was 10, I was doing a round off flick double back for the first time competing it on floor. My arm bent backwards and broke in the middle of my flick but I still went for the double back. I lost all tension and feeling in my body halfway through and was about to come crashing down on my neck but my coach ran onto the floor, grabbed my waist and literally saved my life. I still haven’t done another double back.

Then a few seconds later implying that in her future she wouldn't get married because a simple fall.

The last coach is Valeri liukin again. And he basically ran Vega and bross AND ohashi out of gymnastics by trying to turn them all into his daughter nastia. He was a traditional Soviet gymnast where they turned gymnasts out like robots. His wife was a champion rhythmic gymnast as well. His coaching methods have been criticized for years, and his wife’s treatment and obsession with gymnasts weights caused eating disorders, early burn outs, and injuries that ended careers. His gym WOGA produced two American all around Olympic champions back to back, Carly Patterson 2004 and his daughter nastia liukin in 2008.
@needmoresnacks
@needmoresnacks 2 жыл бұрын
I take the treatment of Ohashi VERY personally. Not that what many gymnasts go through isn’t as bad by any means, but this girl was beaten down emotionally. If you look at the routines when she was a little younger she looks miserable and stressed. The newer routines with a more supportive and less drill Sargent of a coach you can see her personality and she looks so happy doing what she loves.

Years ago a cheerleader for Syracuse University was performing a dangerous pyramid when she fell and broke her neck. She was paralyzed, although it has been over 30 years so I am not sure how she is doing today. But, what I do remember is that her tragic accident brought much attention to the increasing difficulty in cheerleading skills without proper spotting to keep up. There were good size guys who were part of the routine who also had spotting duties, but were in no position to break her fall, which was a serious fault because she was mounting the top of the pyramid and was in the most precarious position. I remember how sad a time this was (I played safety on the football team and knew her) because it could and should have been avoided. Thankfully, spotters are much better today. They have to be! What these girls are doing today is beyond amazing.

Almost 1.5 years ago a girl by the name of Makayla Noble who did competitive cheerleading was at a friend's house with a bunch of the cheer squad practicing for both the homecoming game and an upcoming competition when they had a freak accident while performing skills that they did daily. She was instantly paralyzed from her chest down. She is an inspiration to everyone who meets her or follows her on KZbin and Instagram as she continues to have physical therapy to help prevent muscle atrophy and build up her strength to help be more self efficient. She actually tried out the the school cheer squad when she went back to school and is now part of the squad even though she is in a wheelchair. She is amazing and as someone who has multiple spinal cord injuries and severe nerve damage along with a host of other health issues that nearly killed me 6 times I can relate to what she is dealing with daily. By some miracle I am still able to stand up and walk short distances while using a rolling walker which has shocked my Neurosurgeon, physical therapists and the rest of my medical team. The first time I met my Neurosurgeon he couldn't believe that I was able to do any things and especially being able to stand or walk and function at the level I was given the the location and the amount of damage shown in my MRI scan. After the first surgery he told us that the damage had been much worse than what the MRI showed and that I had been one wrong move away from death or becoming a quadriplegic in a wheelchair and hooked up to a respirator for the rest of my life.

LOL kinda. it’s not innate, it’s experience. they aren’t born being able to spot gymnastics fails. LOL their experience, knowing the mechanics of a skill, knowing what it should look like in every moment that enable them to spot a fall before it happens. that’s why you can see most of them react early//so quickly. these skills are so precise that when something is even _slightly_ off, they already know it’s gone off the rails + a crash is imminent.

I wouldn't like to be rude, because one can see that the creator has worked on the video a lot with editing the footage he collected, however the information he attaches to the footage sometimes is dubious. For example, the video that shows Nastia Liukin fall from the uneven bar (4:43) didn't happen in 2008, it happened in 2012, at the olympic trials. And the man who spotted her was her father, Valeri Liukin.

WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!! Are you freaking serious?!? ‘’The girl actually looked pretty, and it would have been a shame to see her lose a tooth. Well, on behalf of her husband, if she eventually gets married, we’d like to thank the coach…’’ This is such a sexist and uncalled for statement. As if losing a tooth would have made her ‘future husband’ love her any less, and insinuating that none of the other gymnasts were pretty. How insensitive and insulting of a comment!!!

Is it necessary to be sexist? Like honestly. These people are doing things you could never do so saying “it looked like he wanted to be a girl” because the spotter had to catch him is fucking ridiculous.

Also what the hell was “the girl actually looked pretty and it would be a shame if she lost a tooth” so she just wouldn’t be pretty after that? And maybe instead of click-baiting bc your content isn’t that good actually make good content.

The amount of sexism... on behalf of her future husband?? would you put your body on the line for a full grown man?? Bruh... get your life together before speaking.

Somehow every video I see from this channel contains misinformation or strange remarks about the athletes mentioned (or both!). Hopefully, I'll be able to get them off my recommended.

Just letting people know that Simone biles is NOT in this compilation. Definitely some heroic spotters for mostly unheard of gymnasts. The Simone biles and I could’ve died are cluck bait!

We had a trampoline in high school. A student was jumping after gym class ended and the teacher was no longer present. I was standing near the trampoline and observed that the person was not centered and would have fallen backwards off the trampoline had I not held out my arm and prevented the fall. I knew nothing about spotters, but I guess that day I ended up being one.

5 ears later, gymnastics might be better for the gymnasts even giving older gymnasts a new chance to shine , I hope.

That was misleading. The ad included the American Simone Biles but she didn't appear. I feel she was used as a draw card.

geezus the commentary in this video is so sketch. talking about the girls’ looks, an imaginary husband, someone wishing they were a girl, like…. WTF? tried watching on mute before eventually just ending it early. 0/10 do not recommend. there are several other (better)gymnastics save videos with actually good, relevant commentary. skip this one.

I’m sorry but does anyone else think this was extremely rude and sexist? I’m not an extreme feminist by any means and hardly ever comment on things like this but this video really annoyed me. Not only was it clickbait, it was extremely offensive. The comments about the male gymnast practicing to fall and wanting to be a girl so that he can be caught and saved by someone else??? And mentioning that he’s a “grown man” needing to be caught… and the comment thanking the savior on behalf of her future husband of the one gymnast because she was “actually pretty”… I needed to comment on this video. What is the creator implying? Only females can be saved? The purpose of the spotters is to protect whatever gymnast regardless of age, sex or size. All gymnastics (and people for that matter) make mistakes. And saying a gymnast is “actually pretty” implies so many things. It’s the furthest thing from a compliment. Are they saying that other gymnasts are not pretty? And why comment about her potential future husband who will be happy she’s not busted?? Actually, why comment on her looks at all?? It’s not relevant.
