I remember growing up as a kid in an urban neighborhood we used to flip for fun. I wish somebody would have steered some of us in this direction because we only knew about football, baseball, and basketball. We had some truly incredible boys out there. I remember one kid could walk up trees and flip off them like it was breathing. I could do 15 back flips in a row, twist, summers, half twist, and this is all in the grass. I think I'm going to try to get the schools in my community to bring in gymnastics and swimming.

People need to stop criticizing Biles for having the good sense to recognize when her brain wasn't working right. That's what happened. It's the brain's/body's reaction to enormous stress. Her brain effectively 'shut down' so that she couldn't judge her spatial position. And that is very dangerous. There is a very informative interview with an expert consultant (I think I saw it on CNN or the NY Times...who does not currently work with Biles) that explains what happened. He said he could see it happening to her in her previous performances before her final vault. He could tell she was actually going through the air with no knowledge of where she was in her space, and therefore, she had no way of knowing where or how to land. It doesn't happen to everybody because everybody is different. It is not a matter of her 'chickening out' or being unprofessional. She showed good judgement. One day, the Olympics will be a thing of the past for her (like all Olympiads) and being safe and not breaking your back or neck during a landing/fall is more important than a piece of metal hung around your neck. GOAT with nothig to prove.

IKR. She is able to pick up speed because she is short. Maybe in her school days, she may have hated how short she was. I just don't know who it is that told her that her weakness is actually her strongest suit or what insecurities she went through. Being short and tiny is not terrible nor is being tall is great. PLUS, she is strong physically and mentally. Man the human body and its love/hate wonders.

Simone is not only brilliant, but she's also a beautiful person it seems. I've listened to her interviews & watched her reaction when she was beaten on the beam. She was gracious & had a big smile as usual. America is torn with racism at the moment from both white & black & I say that as an Irish guy looking from the outside. I pray that people like Simone can use her influence & fame for good, not to use her platform for blame or to take sides. I know she won't, she is a credit to her family & is the face of America I want to see.. She can be a truly Great American & most importantly, a great human being.

+Adrienne Gurge -no. people have to say things to continue to propetuate racism. they need it to justify their own miserable, sad existence. it will always be like this because it always has been. I was reared to feel sorry for people who are racist because it meant that they live in fear. fear that all their lives they have been told that they are superior only to find out they're not. that realization had to have come as a shock. these people must always try to downplay any and every achievement of the people they hate. I refuse to feed into it or to let it keep me from doing what I want to do. sad, isn't it

BuLL eTZ uhm... in case you haven’t realized she hasn’t achieved anything outside of cheating a system... all she does is choose a routine that starts off with such an incredibly high starting score that she can screw up 3 or 4 times (which she normally does if not more) and because of her starting score even the ones who completely perfectly clean runs (which is what I thought was the whole point🤷🏻♂️) stand no chance in catching her... all this is going too do is lead to more people doing routines that they know they can’t do cleanly or safely just in hopes of keeping up with her... she should have already been disqualified for this multiple times (and yes even in the olympics)

***** Not really. The whole "magic" thing might be older than Biles herself. And i'm sure OP was kidding.

+Meg Life naw it's a term we created after African American women where 1. Disrespected for doing things other people do 2. We need more young African Americans to have good role models because as so many people like to point out there where none the term black girl magic and black magic began to be associated with black people. You can have a white girl magic but it really doesn't do anything because there are SO many white male and female role models. It's not a political term more is it a term to draw our hate

Great job Simone, that double layout with a half twist looks beautiful! Great video as well.

3:12 freaks me out! It's like Simone is being pulled up by an invisible string or force, but it's just all momentum! Now that's freaking incredible! ( ^ _ ^ )

what about the floor itself? it's not hard and rigid; it has a degree of rebound (bouncy). i'm totally ignorant, but i kind of suspect that the rebound characteristics in gymnastics floors has changed over the years and decades. the rebound properties permit jumping higher. i wonder how different it is now compared to 30 years ago.

+Delilah Weeks No sarcasm needed. What good does it do to always point out when other people are being rude on the Internet? Do you think you're going to change them? Anonymity brings out the worst in people, get over it and quit adding to the headache that is KZbin's comment section by virtue signaling
@a.lcastle76148 жыл бұрын
Dogald Trump no I've actually been to the internet plenty of time I mean I just thought use it everyday. I just thought that maybe people would be more kind when it came to a young woman like her I would hate to be her reading comments on her own video

Dogald Trump and plus that still is no excuse for people to go around acting like they have no home training. The KZbin comments section is going to ruin KZbin for everyone in the near future... :(

It is a given that at some future occasion, there will be an athlete that will make the theoretical maneuver become real. But until then, Simone Biles is without question the gold standard of women's gymnastics in the present.

Can you just imagine people are criticizing her? I mean harsh criticism. People who can't do 1/100 of what she can do and couldn't of gone through 1/100 of what she endured, sexually abused for years and still had to train and compete. What world we live in!

It seems when she does the layout she goes *HIGHER* and when she twist she’s still in a very good height of air and when she lands it’s amazing! She has a very little jump then she just FLYS! I’m so proud of her.
