Yes, it’s a great video. But trust me, men don’t speak with more respect to taller women. I’m 5’9, and can garantee we get the same amount of disrespect…the problem is the men that lack basic manners, not the height of any woman.

yeah but their mass is different as men, they honestly can't do a lot of the stuff she can. There's a reason men's and women's gymnastics actually do different routines. They'd probably do better on a male gymnastic routine, but frankly of all athletes, the male gymnast is sheer insanity. These guys just aren't in that kind of shape.

@@user-wi9hv2pb2q Spot on! I remember, in high school, doing the "stand against a wall, then lean over and pick up the classroom trash can" trick. The guys couldn't do it, while we gals could. The "secret" was that men's center of gravity is around their chest/shoulders, women's is around their pelvis. Also the reason it is a very rare woman who can do an iron cross on the rings. I remember trying that in gym class. I thought I could at least slow my 'descent' like the guys could. I was shocked by how fast I was plunged down - and I had good upper body strength.

As someone who has appreciated Gymnastics since I was a toddler, I adore those who were able to put serious effort into the sport. My time in Gymnastics was only a drop because my Mother could not afford to keep me in long at all. Free Programs were limited, but I had a good time and made friends. Plus I met someone who would be a Major Mentor to me til this very day through Gymnastics, so I am grateful for the Blessings that came to me. Nevertheless, I remember watching the Summer Olympics with such enthusiasm. I'm an 80s Baby and 90s Kid, so those were some magical moments in athletic history. It takes so much energy to even compete in Gymnastics. It takes so much support to even get an athlete to Nationals, let alone to the Olympics. Anyone who was even able to hang in there from the training alone is a Beautiful BEAST. So as a Sideline Supporter, just know that you are AWESOME!!! 🏅💗

I've never been a gymnast, but my mom was a coach and a gymnast in her youth. The stories she tells sound badass. Like how she used to wrap her body on the uneven bars, you know before that was banned due to women damaging their hips and wombs. Just looking at a gymnast's rough hands isn't enough to convey how intense gymnasts train.

Plus the guy who claimed he won the setup exercise where you pass the block between your feet and hands wasn't lifting his shoulders off the ground at all. There was no V sit motion to what he was doing so, no my guy, I think you lost cause you weren't even doing it right. She also intentionally does the hanging leg raises against the wall so she can't cheat like these guys did and just tilt back at the shoulders.

yes and no... by activating all of your leg muscles through lengthening them, it actually becomes easier to raise them. it's like picking up a dead person versus picking up someone who braces for the lift. If your supporting leg muscles don't have enough endurance to stay straight and tense, then you will fatigue easily doing it this way, but straighter legs are easier to lift!

As a note, this workout isn't even tailored specifically for elite athletes! I was a gymnast for 14 years, and I did most of these when I was 10 as a mid-level gymnast (level 5/10). If we didn't have the right form (e.g., straight legs) for some of these, we'd have to do the whole set again, so you learn pretty quick to do it right the first time -- even if your muscles are sore!

First of all, I came across this video randomly, but I want to say hi to Brandon since we used to work together here in Los Angeles. I hope all is well, brother! I adore Simone & appreciate all that she’s done in our sport & for our sport as a terrific representative & role model for so many. Thank you, Simone! As a former elite gymnast, we do a ton of conditioning that is unusual for other sports since gymnastics (especially men’s gymnastics) requires so many different movements from other sport, in multiple planes, & requires support of your full body mass on your upper body. We always are taught to do these skills with our legs straight because that’s required in our routine, & “perfect practice makes perfect.” As was mentioned above, bending knees shortens the length of the lever & completely reduces the resistance & difficulty of the movement. Even the basic L sit hold on parallel bars is with legs straight & hips pressed forward between the hands vs hips behind the hands. One of the biggest challenges in the sport is keeping up strength & flexibility while constantly upgrading your routines & skills all while keeping injury free & minimizing fear of injury while doing these skills. The new equipment & better training environments are leaps & bounds ahead of where we were in the late 1970s when I first started the sport as a 4 year old. It’s amazing! Fun video. Keep up the good work, guys!

I have a new found appreciation for how difficult an Olympic athlete's workout routine can be. Good job buff dudes! Here's my videogame suggestion: when you start off in valheim you have to gather wood without tools. This means punching trees with your bare hands. Can the buff dudes cut down a tree by punching it?!

I love these kinds of videos!!!! So interesting to see how different types of athletes excel or struggle with various exercises. I do circus, and specialize in aerial rope. I found their struggle with the foam block crunches particularly funny 🤣 we do those all the time except we HAVE to do them with straight legs holding the block with our ankles, and then do a full sit up with the 90° leg pike.

Love the idea of a video game stream, but in true Buff Dude fashion, Video game inspired workouts. Base a workout on something the video game character does or how they look. Kratos, Nathan Drake, Any of the Street Fighter characters, etc

You know most gymnast do this workout. I was a gymnast for 15 years. Very elite level. Those press handstand that she’s doing where she’s straddling the bar and then presses up to a handstand strengthens your shoulders. Well, and your core strengthens everything actually. But your shoulders especially. We need strong shoulders. I was jealous 30 years ago. I was nowhere near Simones difficulty. The skill level has increased immensely since then. But for my time I was rather good.

I liked that you tried some of Simone's workout. It looks very challenging. You guys made a great attempt and made it entertaining and fun to watch. There's one thing I'm going to call you out on. In the beginning of the video, you guys described Simone as being "Extremely dexterous, extremely agile and flexible," Which is all very true, but it's a very typical thing that many people say about a gymnast. How about saying Simone is strong, She is very strong too! After each of the exercises you did, you didn't mention the strength it takes to do them. And you didn't use the word at all in reference to Simone. It's ok for a man to say that a woman is strong.

You guys are very likeable. Good wit and humor. It was fun to see Simone Biles' workout, and the clips inserted of Simone doing each exercise herself were helpful and enjoyable. Suggestion: do any work out you choose for an entire week or even 14 days! Show yourself learning it (as you are doing now), then progress! Maybe show again on Day 14. And discuss what you got out of the 14 days. You can even present a list (come up with a template) of what was included in the workout. And have a section for Benefits you found in the 14 day workout.
