COMMENTARY FROM DOCTOR'S AND EXPERTS ON GYMNASTICS! It's THE MOST DIFFICULT VAULT IN GYMNASTICS, as she performs it at the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS in Japan. It has a start value of 6.6, the highest of any vault. Biles said she was HAPPY WITH HER PERFORMANCE and that she wanted to do the vault for herself and for the CHALLENGE. She also said SHE HOPES TO INSPIRE other gymnasts to try new skills and push the boundaries of the sport. The Yurchenko double pike vault is a skill that involves a round-off onto the springboard, a back handspring onto the vaulting table, and a double pike somersault in the air before landing. Biles is the first woman to perform the vault in international competition and the first to land it successfully. She did it in the qualifying round on October 1, 2023. Biles scored 15.766 for the vault, which was the highest score of any event in the qualifying round.
