Interesting that you considered the "lack of complex choreography" point a possible deduction for this routine. I personally love this choreo, it's one of my favorites from Simone and I think she performed it really well, with a lot of energy, rhythm and intention, as always; however, I had a feeling that the butt bounce move + the getting back on feet in demipoints carried an inherent risk of being considered "not enough". That deduction is completely irrelevant, anyway, Simone deserved what she got 100%, can't wait to see her winning multiple golds in a few days! Thank you for the fast analysis and your much needed expertise! ❤

“Complex choreography” doesn’t just mean “good choreography.” “Lack of complex choreography” doesn’t mean “bad choreography”. It means that it should be more difficult and complicated than what someone with decent rhythm could do at a club or dance. The deduction was properly applied here. And while I think that Simone elevated her choreography as much as possible here, I don’t think that it’s that good. There’s no real theme or consistency. It’s just a series of unconnected movements. It doesn’t really compare to the choreography we’re seeing from gymnasts like Shilese Jones, Rebeca Andrade (though she might get deducted for complexity specifically), Jessica Gadirova, or Ellie Black, just to name a few. Jordan Chiles’ choreography last year or Nola Matthew’s’ choreography this year at Nationals are also examples of what I’d consider good floor choreography and which definitely meet more requirements than this one. But yeah, Simone’s difficulty and the rest of her execution should keep her safely in the gold medal spot. Every floor routine has some weaknesses.

I'd argue that her hop after her silivas was definitely 0.1 rather than 0.3

if she can control those landings like in nationals she can get back 0.6 or so. just by making the hops or steps small enough to be 0.1 vs 0.3

If her Gogean isn't getting credited no one's should be... I don't get how they downgraded either of the dance elements they are both clearly around all the way?

The judges gave her a 6.7 instead of 6.8 D score for some reason🤷🏽♂️

I think they may not have credited her 1 1/2 split (D). I think it should be credited but I can see why you wouldn't the judges are being harsh. So It goes down to a C (split full)@@user-hs6tw9uy1q

Maybe because she didn't connect the Biles I with the stag jump. It's the only thing I could think of. All the dance elements look pretty solid.

@@isalmeida2006I thought maybe she didn't get credit for the gogean. Even without the stag jump, her difficulty score has been a 6.8 from what I've seen

@@isalmeida2006 no bc in her previous comps she didn’t connect it either but she get a 6.8 and now only a 6.7 for some reason

The penalizing the Americans for lack of dance. You because they have to tried to lower the score so the rest of the world can catch up with difficulty. But won't work the US will just get the best choreographer to help the ladies improve. Simone usually hops alot in qualifying then gets in finals. She needs to know where she is being penalize to improve
