Rather cool technique. And it’s not so complicated we thought. Thank you, sir

Hi Simon, any chance this could be done for Davinci Fusion Studio some day? Great results!
@SimonUbsdell2 күн бұрын
Thanks. It would be quite an interesting challenge to do a Fusion - and not nearly as easy as doing it in Motion as it happens. I will put it on the list of tutorials to look at making.

“Really simple” turns for me into a day until I can reproduce that, even if it’s easy to follow and I as non native English speaker understand your narration perfectly. Simon, you can’t imagine how I admire you for your skills. I very rarely use Motion (modifying FCP titles or so), but years ago I stumbled over your channel and watching your tutorials, whether it’s Motion or something else, is better as watching mainstream TV as well as your voice has also ASMR quality and calms me down after a busy day.

Is there any way to make a Motion Project template like this where all you have to do is import/replace the graphic letters each time you use it? Or do you have to build it up again for every new set of text images?
@GolfQuestChannel4 ай бұрын
Good question.
@SimonUbsdell4 ай бұрын
The answer is yes and no. Yes, in the sense that the overall result is procedural and you can feed in any source. But no, in the sense that you can't automatically update the source shapes and their animations because that's not a feature that Motion supports (or could support). However, by simplifying the project and removing the lighting and write on animation you could make a template that is very simply updated with minimal set-up.

Hi simon I am a student who is learning a lot from your video, I have a question. Is there a way to make a 3D object in the 3D layer to bend it by making a point like the rigging of AE? Or if there is a way to make the object look bent as desired even if it is not rigging, I would like to know
@SimonUbsdell4 ай бұрын
There is no built-in warping in Motion's toolset but you might want to take a look at mPuppet: www.motionvfx.com/store,mpuppet,p2886.html

I am running into a snag. I’m using a 4 word phrase in a 3 line format. Whenever I add the first camera the top line “we” is cut off from the scene. You can see the write on guides working it. Just not showing.any ideas?

I made a few versions of this I can see clicking my handle . Dry run for client done too using 12 px width and using word "regeneration", seemed a little fat with 20 px as characters 350 not 800 . Next step is to adapt to vertical for client, maybe have to change font size again, I will see (and let you all know). @SimonUbsdell, I love the really full yet subtle sizzle/crackle sound effect you use in your demo. Any hints on how you did that by chance? I tried a few things from Envato, but not nearly as rich as yours. Very nice addition.
@SimonUbsdell4 ай бұрын
The sound effect was done by combining a effect called 'scurrying ants' with another called 'fireworks fizz', both of the running through a heavy delay and with a lot of EQ to roll off the top end. It's very rare that effective sound design can be done with just one effect and it's all about layering and processing - and lateral thinking in how you source the sounds.

I am a final cut pro use and I am a freelancer in video editing field.I want to improve my skill through motion graphics but I am confused among after effects and apple motion ,what should I learn ? is everything can be done with apple motion that is possible with after effects?
@SimonUbsdell4 ай бұрын
You can buy Motion outright for less than the cost of just two months' subscription to After Effects. In my view, if you are still just getting started in motion graphics then Motion is the way to go. At some point you might find that the work you are doing requires the extra functionality of After Effects but there is way more that you can do with Motion than most people realise. Take a look at some of my tutorials for proof of that.
