One of you requested a Motion tutorial for this "electric logo reveal" effect so I thought I'd do one because it involves an unusual but interesting technique. Assets: tokyo-uk.com/Mo...

You are the Bob Ross of motion graphic tutorials :)

A speedy hack has been to use affinity designer and/or Pixelmator pro to convert text to shapes/draw vectors and then export to svg shapes or a motion project. This then happily imports and can provide some very sophisticated functionality. I hope that this doesn’t undermine the terrific spirit of learning you’re aiming for here.

Yes, I did a tutorial on using Pixelmator for this a while back: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHqppp2Qa81opLM You're right that it's a good way to tackle projects like this (of which I have made many, linked to in the Pixelmator description).

Dear Simon Thank you for the tutorials in the past few weeks. Regardless of how much you learn, it was a big help the time a little bit to forget about Corona. Stay healthy and stay active with the tutorials. Thank you very much

Is it possible to do something like this for a preexisting logo created in Adobe?
@creativemotion54 жыл бұрын
It's really great Simon, This tutorial because it reminds me of the , plugin of "Saber" andrew Kramer, I buy this plugin at motion VXF but it's not at all the same nothing to see. But thanks to your technique we will be able to create creative titling animations of this kind with motion 5. Great for your research and use of filters and tools in motion, it's really nice to share your techniques with us. We keep following you because you teach us a lot. Really good.

Great Tutorial Simon! The only thing I noticed was the flares were out of level when the camera moves back. So, is it necessary to keyframe the flares to align with text? Just a thought. Thanks!
@SimonUbsdell4 жыл бұрын
You can't keyframe the position of the flares because otherwise you would see the edges. You would have to adjust the camera move to keep the flares centred - for example you could simply stop the camera move at the point where the flares appear, or you could set up a more elaborate path that corrected the Y position as necessary.

Great Simon, I will go ahead and try those.

How does one make a grid move continuously? Is that even possible in motion 5?
@SimonUbsdell4 жыл бұрын
Use Motion's built-in Grid Generator and animate its Offset value(s) (not its Transform position). You could for example add a Rate behavior, or a Ramp behavior or you could keyframe it.

Hi Chris, KZbin have changed the way they handle links which means you need to copy and paste the link into your browser to get it to work.

Is this possible for 3d text?
@SimonUbsdell4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I show it being used with 3D text at the end of the tutorial. Personally I have a huge dislike of 3D text so I don't use it, but you can do whatever you like.

again, wow. this looks cool.. I've been playin with these titles and effects but something like that never came in to my mind. That really reminds me of those old 80s and 90s scifi movies like lawn mower man and highlander etc. Thanks for this excellent tutorial!
@SimonUbsdell4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's a rather retro design, isn't it? Not something I would have chosen to do myself but since someone asked I thought it would be an interesting challenge.
@HenriT4 жыл бұрын
@@SimonUbsdell I like retro things very much, just like the Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki. I even got old russian slr lenses as cinema glasses because they work like cinema glasses. (stepless iris ring, fully manual..) Helios, MIR and Jupiter. Planning to get few more.
