I'm a Canadian living in Uruguay for 25 years now. I love it here. Fortunately I make a good living here and compared to Canada it is less expensive. For the Uruguayans it is very expensive here.

Seeing a lot coming here in Buenos Aires too and governments really have to step in to reduce the ongoing gentrification, locals shouldn't have to deal with the consequence of high living costs on the other side of the globe. This is exactly one of the reasons extreme right movements are rising.

Yes, a 2 Bedroom apartment in North Vancouver BC Canada runs at $2500.00/month, and food, gas, and electricity has all gotten out of hand. To buy an apartment along the water in North Vancouver (No Beach - old industrial site) starts at $1 million. As a Retiree, my wife and I are Hurting Bad, I miss the Canada pre 2015, when people could fulfill their dreams by hard work, but now there does not seem to be any hope.

Have a friend that lives in Uruguay. We haven’t spoke in a while but she was so in love with her country. Uruguay is so full of life and exploration and discovery. Some of the most important discoveries of all time were made in Uruguay.
