As usual another informative vid Peter, they are great quality products which while attract a premium it does works out cheaper in the long run. I’ve lost count of how many things I’ve bought over the years that didn’t quite workout the way I’d hoped. Good solution, looks smart and can be easily lowered without any fancy winches 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

The ideal Garden??? An immediate chuckle. Back to the Vid. I bought an Aluminium push up mast some years ago, maybe 20 at a Rally. It was perhaps £80-90 and you are correct mine has not survived the years very well (It was not of the same quality as yours btw) and has been effectively out of use for the last fifteen or so. Cannot afford another one so I shall manage without. My Garden is about 10m from House to Fence and has a """Long Wire""" to the house through an SGC Auto Tuner but there used to be a house with a tree about as far away again that I was plucking up courage for the last twenty years to ask to use it as an anchor and they went and cut it down. :-(. Thanks for the reminder that I need to win the lottery and move into a house with a 100m garden. :-)

Hi Peter, nice video and a very nice looking shed. The mast looks the business as their say. Wonder if it would have been easier to just fix it to the fence with some brackets save yo digging, and if the mast was kept slightly off the ground, maybe sat on plastic insulater , the pole could be used as a vertical ant, and a few radials going along the fence in a fan , fixed to the fence one above the other with 25mm gaps up to about half a meter high. I tried it once and it worked well. Just a idea to use the same mast for a couple of ants. Good luck and thanks for all your videos. 73 zl3xdj

Thank you. Did you do something to make the transitions between the parts watertight or is there a hole in the bottom cover to let the water out?
@briankeith6256 Жыл бұрын
Absolutely love these videos-many thanks! I am obviously dense, but do you drop the mast into the cement immediately (so that it hardens around it)? And then, once that sets (2 or 3 days) do you add the cement and sand to fill the hole? And finally…do you ship to the States?

It's most likely that those hose clamps are stainless steel. It would be a very good idea to isolate them from the aluminium mast by using some electrical tape or something similar applied between the mast and the hose clamp. Aluminium alloys and stainless steel alloys are not compatible materials and galvanic corrosion will occur when they come into contact with one another. You don't want to find that out at 3.00 AM on a windy rainy night with your next door neigbour banging on your door and demanding you fix their broken roof tiles there and then.

Probably not since Peter explains he has had this mast for several years. It looks new...
@brutonstreettailor45703 жыл бұрын
In that case as Peter said, the coating on the mast is preventing the dissimilar metals from corroding.
@g1hwy3 жыл бұрын
I have the 10metre HD one and it's anodized. The clamps that hold each section are stainless so adding stainless pipe clamps makes no difference. These are fantastic masts and not to be confused with those crappy cheap thin ali ones. They cost more because they are head shoulders above the cheap ones and made of thick alloy. Mine easily holds my Cobweb and it is fixed just like Peters but I added three guys of paracord just to make sure.

I was about to buy a fibreglass spiderbeam, but now tempted by one of these as presumably it does not need guying? Are there any disadvantages to using a metal (conductive) pole compared to fibreglass... especially for dipoles?
@watersstanton3 жыл бұрын
As it is metal you cannot run a vertical wire close to it. BUT it is a lot stronger when it comes to supporting a wire. I have never guyed mine. If a severe storm was to be forecast I might drop it a couple of sections. 73 Peter.
@g1hwy3 жыл бұрын
Mine holds my Cobweb up at 25feet and to make sure in storms I added 3 paracord guys. These guys mean I don't have to drop the mast in force ten storms.
@g1hwy2 жыл бұрын
@Michael. M7 CYC Yes, mine holds my cobweb. They are very strong much heavier gauge metal than other cheapo masts. Use 3 or 4mm paracord as guys.

Planning is down to your local authority. But telescopic means it can be taken down to a level below planning requirement. If a crane or scaffolding does not require planning, then my reasoning is neither does a telescopic mast. BUT I an not an exoert on this,

I want to buy Aluminium Telescopic Mast 10m HD (33ft) and I want to fix it in wall. Also with g-450 for my hexbeam. If I put rotator at bottom the mast also rotates how can it be fixed at wall? Should I put rootator in top?
@watersstanton3 жыл бұрын
That rotator would struggle to turn a mast. Much easier to put the rotatir at tge too. 73 Peter.
