Hey Ben, thanks for this video, incredibly useful ! A question though : we all know how human make mistakes and can put the wrong "Paid date" the first time and then correct the mistake. How could we have the automation run a little later so that the first mistake is not being taken into account OR have the automation re-run to update the linked month ?

Lots of missing steps, luckily I'm familiar enough with Airtable to fill in the blanks. For example, you never stated that we need to choose Monthly P/L as the table to link to from the Expense Month Link, and Month Link fields. Also, you never provided the formula for the actual cost field which is extremely vital for this entire process to work. At the end you do allude to another video, but if you're making a tutorial for beginners it would have been nice to simply click on the field and show the formula for 2 seconds. Besides that good job! This is a useful accounting tool for a small business while they work on a more traditional and thorough solution as they scale.

I agree! These videos that don't show vital steps are really a waste of everyone's time. I as a newbie need all the details step by step or im not going to learn anything or get this setup correctly. I guess I will continue to look up more videos with details, which again, a waste of my time. very frustrating for ones that are new to airtable.

Hello, just found your channel and have been stressing about looking for an easy to use database for expense tracking on my small business. Would you say this is easier to use than excel? I have tried to use excel, but I don’t understand it.. :/

I’m obviously not Ben, But I can say from plenty of experience using Airtable that air table is more user-friendly and more interactive than Excel. This is especially the case for people who lack experience in databases or spreadsheets. I recently designed a database for a church for someone who has never used Airtable before and within 30 minutes of showing them a table they knew how to input records and absolutely loved it.
