Airtable for Accounting and Bookkeeping Firms

This is really helpful! I'm hung up on products that recur year after year. I guess on the Jobs/Products table I would have a new row for each client/project/year right? I.e. column A first record would be "Smith Inc S-Corp Tax Return 2020". I wonder if there is a way to globally roll forward projects, i.e. from all of the "Client Name S-Corp Tax Return 2020" to create projects with the name "Client Name S-Corp Tax Return 2021". Also, my old firm used OfficeTools, which I generally liked, and now I am wondering if Office Tools was built with airtable, because the structure seems really similar.

Office Tools always looked more to me like MS Outlook from the early 2000's and they never really updated it, LOL! You could create a field for the Year and a Field for the month. This would help a lot in terms of organizing things, especially for taxes.

Do you share these templates? Or sell them? I like to get a template like the one you did for the trial balance or transaction write-up. Does anyone use Airtable to build a trial balance and tax groupings schedules? I’m looking into the power of this app to see if it can replace Caseware for that working trial balance application and come up with a solid report to tie into a tax return with adjusting entries and all. If you have any alternative that you use in either a low cost software or in excel please let me know.

This one is available as part of my course: NERD'S GUIDE TO AIRTABLE: www.nerdenterprises.com/nerds-guide-to-airtable I wouldn't count on Airtable to get financial reports like a balance sheet, or profit and loss. It can be done, but you'll probably wind up finding that it's much more practical to use accounting software like QuickBooks Online. This is more for tracking the "other" data for project management and detailed task management - the stuff that surrounds the accounting data.

I like the idea you are talking about accounting but you didn't really do any accounting. No chart of accounts, no To and From transactions. This was more like the typical boring Projects/tasks demo. I would have liked to see some financial transaction accounting, which I think would be a bit difficult in Airtable. I've already got that working in my system.
