I've heard of kholrabi but I've never tried it. Of all the videos I've seen on cooking this vegetable, THIS one is my favorite. Thanks!

I have never heard of kohlrabi until this week. I was looking for a way to make it for a warm vegetable side dish to go with Brauts. Thank you much. This was simple and easy and I have everything in my pantry! Very delicious! Takes that radish taste out of it.

im so confused as to how so many americans apparently don’t know kohlrabi or actually don’t really have it in store. 10 minutes ago i thought "what’s the english word for kohlrabi" to myself (im a native german speaker that’s our word too) and I found out we use the same word and that’s how I found your video because I wanted to see u pronounce it. in germany it’s probably one of the most common veggies there is. its literally a go to snack to slice some kohlrabi and just put salt on it. sooooo yummy. anyway have a great day!!

How interesting! Thanks so much for sharing German ways! You're right, kohlrabi is not a common grocery store item in America. You can find it in SOME stores when it's in season, but it's really a rare find. With that, I'm sure most Americans have never tried it. Thanks so much for the insight into your country's delicacies! Best wishes to you and yours :)

Will the bottom you cut off grow another one. I was looking how to cook them I just picked one that surprisingly came up fr last year's garden. Thankyou.

Hi Rany! I have not tried regrowing kohlrabi, nor have I heard of that being done. I can't say for sure why you had that extra gift in your garden this year. (No complaining about unexpected gifts!) Maybe you had one go to seed last year? Maybe one wasn't cut back all the way and it continued to grow? I really can't say. But like you, I'd be happy to have it! Maybe you could experiment and try regrowing one from the bottom. It might work! Thanks for watching and sharing :)

Interesting. I didn't see them when I was at Trader Joe's last weekend. I was tempted to try some!

Well maybe another time. I actually went to two different stores before I found them. Obviously they're not overly popular and I'm not sure when they're in season, so Trader Joe's may or may not carry them. I found mine at Hy-Vee. I'm not sure if you have that chain near you, but they're a major chain here in Iowa (other than Wal-Mart and a smaller chain, Fareway).

Does it tolerated deep fried? Like seasoned & floured zucchini or ockra?
@JudiintheKitchen4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rick! I have not tried cooking kohlrabi this way. However, I don't see why it wouldn't work. It's more hardy than zucchini, so if zucchini can be deep fried, this should work. Thanks for watching :)

First time I have ever seen this veg ! Fortunately I was given one from a fellow allotment chappie, WoW, What a very ...... versatile vegetable it is! I’ve already tried cooking the stems & leafy part of this veg, with gr8 success.... with the addition of 1 tablespoon of red-current-jelly ....plus all your ingredients from your video. I’m now .... going to try a stir-fry from the main veg. Not sure to much about the ingredient add-on’s... although I agree with the obvious salt/pepper, & garlic. But I may try with a bit more oriental...spices’....yummy, as this vegetable is 👀.......lol I’ll ‘let cha know’ Love your cooking videos 😃😉 Just one thing my Kohlrabi veg is Purple in colour & not... apple green, tho I’m sure the taste is the same ? 🥴
@JudiintheKitchen4 жыл бұрын
Hi Terence! Thanks for watching and sharing! There are different varieties of kohlrabi...purple and green. I believe they should taste about the same. Sounds like you have some yummy ideas! I hope it turned out well for you :)

Stir fry them with a few cloves of garlic, mushrooms, onion and season the way you did but add couple of teaspoons of soya or hoisin sauce. No need to add water as the mushrooms will give off water.
