I like the idea of the roll pin as a drill guide. I hope I remember it the next time I need something beyond a transfer punch.

That's a tidy solution! I've seen a few guys mount them on top of the case, including under the shroud and also around the oil pressure sensor (probably what I will do.) I've always read that valve train noise is a challenge on these engines, but I'm no expert here. I've also seen calculations that for 95mm diameter pistons (like my SC's) the required frequency filter is around 6.0 kHz, so it'll be interesting to see what you come up with when doing this with the Emtron. The MS ECU I use does have a knock sensor input, but the signal needs a separate conditioner ... Me, I just plan to do some tuning on my engine with DIY knock ears and keep it all pretty conservative! (Edit: Spelling.)

Sounds good, I'll admit that feature creep is real and all the stuff I included is nice to have. It's amazing what the Emtron can do, so I felt compelled to give it all the info it can get.

Very interesting and practical for any performance oriented tune. When complete, will the system be able to adjust timing and fuel real-time? Keep up the good work.

Too much like the dentist? 😀. I'm not saying this was easy, but it doesn't bother me. It's way better than sanding for example.

Super cool. How are you going to verify it is picking up the knocks once all the filters are running?

The Emtron ECU has a realtime oscilloscope and data logging functions. Setting the thresholds and filters is the hard part. Some detonation at very light throttle or deceleration is ok and actually beneficial for piston cleaning.

It's 9.5:1 and stock USA engine. I hope to twin plug with 10:1 pistons in the future. This is just a stepping stone.
