Wow Thank you so much. I have had my danmar max jax for years and the same side as yours is leaking on mine. I contacted Babco Canada where I bought the lift and they told me that there is no longer a seal kit for the danmar Max Jax. Absolutely love this lift, but would like to fix the leak. Your detailed video is going to get a lot of views as I was only able to find your video on this repair. Now that I know how to take it apart , I think we will just take one of the cylinders into a local hydrolic shop where they can fix me up with the correct seals. Definitely going to save this video. Thanks again

nylon straps is genius!

Fantastic! Given that the manual does not describe how to do that your instruction will be very helpful to those having Max jacks.

Indeed, just be careful if you DIY. I will say that piston seal is very tough to install.

How about making a plastic beveled rod that one end is slightly bigger than the seal lip, slipping the seal onto the rod with an OD just the size of the lip, then transferring the seals from the rod to a tube the size of the lip, then to the jack rod.

Good idea. I'm sure that's how the factory did it quickly. Or some kind of expanding pliers.

This reminds me that I should really bolt my 4 post lift down. Great video Tom.

I did the flush anchors and they've been great. I try to remember to put grub screws in the holes when I'm not using the lift.

Hi I am stick at the point that new hydraulic seals with lip (one where you used nylon straps) got them in place but now I can’t get piston back in to the cylinder. You did it so easily but in mycase the lip of the seal/o ring is protruding bit outside the groove. I checked it and the seal is properly in the slot

Double check the seal is pointing in the right direction. Also confirm that you have the right seal for your model. Can you measure the OD of the old seal?

Nice work Tom. Nice tip regarding the straps. Got to say that rolling table has served you well. Did you build it? Where did you get that comfy looking rolling seat?
@GarageTimeAutoResto4 ай бұрын
Thank you Jeff. That table is great. I made it several years ago from 1/4" thick plate and 2" tubing. That seat is my father's day present. Love the adjustable height on it. I can go under the car without hitting my head too bad.

Never use Teflon tape on hydraulic fittings and I wouldn’t use automatic transmission fluid as hydraulic fluid either. I know you can but I don’t there are other additives in trans fluid that may not cooperate with the cylinder seals. Use LG188 liquid thread sealer. BendPak sends with their lifts.

The factory put Teflon tape on these fittings. Not sure what you are worried about. The Max Jax manual says Dextron III. Lots of rubber seals in auto trans.

If your tools are not in order you are not able to fix your cars. Informative videos are useful.

How to repair the leaking hose quick connections (female end)
@GarageTimeAutoRestoАй бұрын
I haven't done it, but I know there are rubber o rings inside just like an air coupler. Unscrew the coupler to access the inside. Be careful the balls don't fly everywhere

How are the two cyliders syncronized? 🤔
@GarageTimeAutoResto4 ай бұрын
There is a flow control valve near the pump for left and right. It is also important that each cylinder is bled so no air is present.
