Tip: to keep the wood from splitting or splintering, start with a smaller drill bit and work your way up to the size you need.

or you can just put painter's tape where you're about to drill and peel it off afterwards

You're the only person I've ever watched who properly spray paints. 🤣 God, I get so fired up watching DIY'ers just coat things...no nice light, even layers done in a sweeping motion. Hahaha! I love the jewelry stands! I made a necklace hanger out of a canvas I painted matte black and hot glue small dowels I cut at an angle so they stuck up enough to hang a necklace on all over the surface. I hung it horizontally. Oh, I stained the dowels walnut (my fave). My room is this deep, jewel toned like...tealish, bluish color. It's gorgeous. And all the wood in the room is stained walnut. Closet doors, woodwork, bedroom door, bathroom door and the furniture is a deep almost black brown. So it looks like art work in there.

Tip from a ceramic artist: when you roll out your slab of clay, roll it out on the item you're using for texture 👍 then cut and assemble your piece

@@XOMaCenna lol, definitely!!! Another fun trick is to use really uniquely designed old knobs and hardware as a stamp on clay!!!

There are a lot of really wonderful artists all over the platform; a really good one who operates her own beginner friendly website/video tutorial series is Molly Sanyour; she's a sweetheart too! There's also a fantastic KZbin channel called "The Potter's Circle" that features different professional artists doing tutorials. I'd also suggest seeing if your school has any pottery classes a available, or if theres a community college near you, you can check to see if they have any "continuing education" classes for ceramics, too! It's so much fun and so relaxing! Most importantly, have fun with it!! 😁

As always, McKenna, you did some VERY cool projects! I wanted to mention that you could add another dowel to your necklace holder by going in the opposite direction (at the same leve,l or slightly above or below. You could also do the same thing, and/or stack the others since the bracelets and earrings are not very long!!

Yes it mixes the mirror trend with the rattan style very nicely, also I live in Malaysia and those rattan tray/basket things are so cheap here, I currently have 2 rattan type organises on my vanity right now and the tray DIY would fit perfectly with this. 🤩

If you put parchment paper around the glass then put the clay ontop you can use selitape to keep the parchment paper tight around the glass it should make it come off the glass easily and if you dip your hand in water to help join the bottom & sides together it'll help hide the line showing from where you joined it. You can also before joining the bottom and sides together get like a fork and put tiny holes more like indentations into the part that you're joining it'll make the bond between the sides and bottom stronger. You could also dip your finger in water like the tiniest amount and it'll help hide any creases and give you a smoother finish hiding the fact that you joined then it'll look like they were already joined together and give a really smooth finish. I was told this by my art teacher when I was in school and it just makes it alot easier to get a nice smooth finish like you could wipe it down with a tiny amount of water get it smooth leave it dry about for 5mins or something then roll the texture onto it cause when you do add a small amount of water it will end up leave white/grey of whatever colour clay you're using into the texture thing just a heads up 😛

For sure I’ll include that in the next spray paint project 🥰 basically it’s light even sprays and not over doing it you can me start at the bottom spray up and stop and then do it again. I hope that helps for now

I was talking to my hubby about your crooked drilled lines and he suggested either using a drill press if you have one or some drills have a level on the back you can use. I want you to know absolutely LOVE all of your video's, and your first one by accident. One I'm quite happy about I'd like to add!

The one that was a tad bit crooked instead of getting rid of it for rings. Because you got one side that's up a little bit and you can put a small bowel on that side and then take the drill Andrew a small diagonal hole on the other side and have it kind of looking like a stickman with his arms up in the air. And you can put your rings on that. That way you're not wasting the block.
