For us newbies it would be amazing if you wouldn't mind making a grocery list in the description of the materials you've used. I'm trying now to put this together lol

Home Depot has a materials list. Just built it. I used 8 of those 3×5 posts and 4 bags of sand, 12" (12) and 8" (20) galv nails.

Man this takes me back. I’ve discovered cornhole as a late teenager and have played that ever since however I have fond memories of playing horseshoes with my dad as well!! I really like the idea of having a permanent home for horseshoes. It makes it so much more accessible just to go and play. Nice build Clinton

Thank you and great memories. I hope my son will remember it the same way, playing with his dad.

Okay, my hubby now has this on must build for our back yard. We already have a in ground pool and we are slowly adding things that make us the attraction for the families. So they will want to vacation with us that way they bring the grandkids and nieces and nephews to us. We know that we are sneaking and we are okay with it....lol

That is part of the reason we are adding upgrades to our backyard too. I have plans for a few more backyard projects I hope to finish this year.

Love it! Brings childhood memories back of my dad, brothers, grandpa and uncles playing horse shoes at our summer home in Canada. I have a cabin in Colorado and would love this exact horse shoe game in my yard. Can you give me a baseball figure of what the would cost would be in materials. I’ll have to hire a handyman to build it for me. Thank you! MAC

The only thing I would add is a front runner to control sand & prevent mower/weed eater from catching the weed cover.

Hi. I'd like to set up old school games events involving this sort of thing inside a medium sized room...local church hall. What other old school games do you know of that are physical like this that might be suitable?

That was a great video I plan to build one just curious are you able to put the pegs 35 ft apart or for ladies can we have them start 5 ft in front of the pig and still make it 40 ft for men

Great idea. I like the cover you made to put over the horse shoe pit. I like the idea you came up with for the cover. BTW I like the beard. Looks good. I have an idea for ya. Since it is spring think you could build a 1 in 2 picnic bench. Would you also include all the deminsions and hardware.

Great video. can you provide the number of the 8" and 12" nails? Also do you have written plans?
@jamieseiple4 жыл бұрын
Very nice pits, however you need to drive the stakes into a thick piece of wood so they don't shift or vibrate. :-)
@memphisgoat92034 жыл бұрын
Plus you can use those pit covers as a table

The sand should be deeper. You need at least 4 or 5 inches of sand. The stakes that come with those sets are not long enough. You need a 3/4" stake that is at least 3 ft. long

1” stake

@wbrewster265 жыл бұрын
So I did not build this but he said what the length he cut all of them and how many there was of each cut. I did the math on those measurements and it came out to be 9 of them. They are 8ft long. I would get 10 just to be safe.
@Tom-rh3pj4 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't it look better if you cut plywood down to dimensions of inside of box then cut hole out for the rod.. Put a handle on it.
@thenewyorker00423 жыл бұрын
I Would be much stronger if you stagger the wood. Like the way a cab is built
@martymcmart4 жыл бұрын
Great looking pit, however my concern is that by squaring it off like that with high walls around the sides and back you are making it a lot easier. Now someone is able to shoot too far, or too much to the left or right of the post and there is a chance it will hit off the wall and bounce back closer to the stake then it would have if the walls were not present.

No shoe that hits wood counts
@brianstroh70744 жыл бұрын
Shoes that hit wood don't count. Its more a protective barrier so shoes don't roll far outside.
