Looking forward to the dust collection series. New shop setup, needing to plan this out right. Cheers!

I just bought the expanding hose with the two provided adapters. FYI for any makita users. I bought the kit mainly for my sanders and those two adapters do not fit any of them.

How about making 5” and 4” fittings that can be used to connect hose, fittings and machines?
@rockler Жыл бұрын
We carry an extensive catalog of 4" hoses and fittings. The 5" hoses and fittings aren't as commonly sought after, and we don't carry that size. You can view all the 4" options on our website at - www.rockler.com/power-tools/dust-collection/dust-collection-fittings - On the left there are Filter options, select Hose or Port Size, and select 4" to see the products. Thanks!

Man, I would like to give Rockler the chance to prove to me that this is a good product and the reason is that I bought a Dust Right Separator a year ago and it looks awesome, feels awesome, and has great quality materials built-in, but performance is just like using my vacuum without the dust separator, unbelievable horrible, my vacuum gets clogged with no time. But the thing is it was invented over 8 years ago and is still for sale. So now I am definitely on the search of a system like this but I want to see that on a demo somewhere to believe you Rockler one more time.

I have/have had a Rockler Dust Right Separator attached in line with my shop vac for a while. The Shop vac is stationary because I mounted it on the wall… next in line is the Dust Right Seperator which I hooked up to a custom system that hangs above my workbench so I can quickly clean the dust or attach a hose to a tool to a flex hose from above. I’ve probably had this setup for 3+ years now and I’ve never once had to change a filter or remove a bag from the shop vac. The Dust Right Seperator has filled up to the brim with sawdust many times ( I know I should empty it before it gets that full ). I did purchase that tape you can buy from Rockler called the: “X-Treme Tape for Dust Joints” and used that on… well, all the dust joints. I don’t work for Rockler in any way I’m just telling you it does work (in-line with a shop vac at least). I’ll link the X-Treme Tape for Dust Joints below. Hope this helps or gives some encouragement! -Drew www.rockler.com/x-treme-tape-for-dust-joints?country=US&sid=V91040&promo=shopping&PL&gclid=CjwKCAjw4ayUBhA4EiwATWyBrkkvN14qPa9W-IAemjCS9WIXhjvXJkL_k6qptL_MU519qOv0ZQbAIRoCng4QAvD_BwE Ps. If you want to see screenshots send me a message. Also, we might have different model numbers but I don’t think the design has changed drastically that much over the years.

@@greenlandwoodworking4407 Drew, thanks for sharing your experience. It is really weird then because my vacuum filter gets clogged in almost no time. And the thing is you can connect the hoses in any way so there is no margin of opportunity to get connections in the wrong place. Super strange situation for sure. Thank you again Drew.

I would like to know about the canister system that I see in the background of this video. I am brand new to woodworking, but have a few things I have picked up at yard sales in the past. I have a 2 bag system that looks alot like the one you have, but yours has been modified with a canister and plastic bag. Do you have a video on this ? I really need it. Thanks

Maybe someday someone will actually come up with a reducer attachment that fits either the ID or OD of my 4 inch dust port on my cabinet saw. A 4 inch adapter does not fit the ID or OD - it is an exact match. In the mean time? Tape and miss-fitting adapters.

@@SteveCarmichael That might be true if I knew someone who had one, but completely not the point. It's a complete industry miss - whether intentional or not - to not produce available couplings in correct dimensions to fit standard port sizes.

As long as you have a 3D printer already... :) But do big 3D-printed parts that have enough strength under constant pressure or tension to hold together? Wouldn't such parts need glass fibre or similar for strengthening? Some of these Rockler parts seem rather flimsy too...

1000% Do NOT get the flex hose version. I have it and I feel like it gets in my way more than it helps. Everything else is incredible though. Flex hose complaint: once the vacuum turns on, the hose wants to retract. I would then be fighting against the retraction proportional to my vacuum's suction strength. It quickly becomes tiring to try to use my tools, stay safe, and keep my station clean. And anything that adds risk should be removed from my process.

There is a 20% off coupon you can use on the Dust Right products until 12/24/22. For the Flexiport hose you have now, we just released an upgrade kit to the new Click-Connect hose adapters and it incorporates an airflow-control ring that can be rotated to release vacuum pressure and alleviate the issue of the hose retracting. Another option to look into. Thanks.
