Thank you so much for taking the time to experiment with different methods! I wanted to try making these this year, but there are many recipes to choose from. This was the first video I've seen that suggested using a bread knife and blotting the oranges before baking. Genius. Thanks again! 😁

Thank you for creating this video with a different ways of making me dried oranges! I am completely new to this, and I just came across your page when I looked up how to dry out oranges for simmer pots, and I am so thankful that yours came across because I would've done it the drying rack way inside of the oven, not knowing about the parchment paper idea! Thank you so much again! Happy new year

Using the parchment paper directly in the oven did you have leaks from the oranges thru the paper to the bottom of the oven?
@BloomintheBlack2 жыл бұрын
None at all! It worked beautifully. Dabbing the slices with paper towels before placing them in the oven makes a huge difference as far as any juices that release during baking.

How do you find the cost with drying your own ( buying the fruit and using gas or electric) compared to buying slices on Etsy? Curious.
@BloomintheBlack2 ай бұрын
You know, I've never really tried pricing it out! I just took a quick look on Etsy and it's definitely cheaper to make your own but that said, it's not a high ticket item. I'd probably weigh the effort you want to put in against the cost vs. cost alone. I'd estimate it was about 30% cheaper to make my own before shipping costs.

How long did it take in the oven? On what temperature?
@BloomintheBlackАй бұрын
I did 200 degrees F for around 4 hours -- it all depends on the thickness of your slices! I have a blog post with detailed instructions if you want to check it out: bloomintheblack.com/dried-oranges/

Did you put an orange on butter paper and then put it in the oven for how many minutes, and does it help to decorate candles?
@BloomintheBlack3 жыл бұрын
I put the oranges on parchment paper. I'm not sure what butter paper is but if that has a wax coating, don't use it! The time varies based on how hot your oven runs and how thick your slices are. Flip the slices every 30 minutes and look for them to turn slightly translucent and dry. This will generally take anywhere from 2 - 6 hours. You could use these to decorate the outside of candles, but of course, exercise caution when they are lit since the oranges are flammable.

how do you eat dry fruits. what for do you do this dry fruits.can you tell me please.
@BloomintheBlack Жыл бұрын
Sure! I mostly use these to decorate with, but you can also use them to garnish cocktails or hot tea. Another idea is to combine them with cloves and cinnamon sticks then simmer in water on the stove to make your house smell nice! Just keep an eye on the pot to be sure it doesn't boil over :)
@امتركي-ث7ش3 жыл бұрын
Why did you put black pepper on the orange?
@BloomintheBlack3 жыл бұрын
It’s actually ground cloves! I only did that to some as a test to see if it would make them smell even better. If you are using them for aesthetic purposes, I would definitely skip adding cloves. If you’re making potpourri, the cloves are a nice touch.
