I had a brand new Saxo. It needed new discs every single service .... until it was out of warranty and I took it to an independent mechanic. No brake problems from then until I scrappaged it after 9 years.

Wow I feel for you pal in regards to the blown head gasket, I had one on a BMW and it cost a lot of money and then for some reason it blew again 4 years later, I was VERY unimpressed, had to chuck it. Someone laughingly told me the head-gaskets for my BMW were made of chocolate, I think I agree.. So pleased to see you got it all sorted at a price within your budget. 👍

Sounds like a nightmare ! Our boxer had issues with dpf and jets. The garage was great but they had issues getting the bolts out as well - they were rusted in - he said it’s common on these vans due to water running off windscreen into engine compartment. He fully greased the new ones . Costly job like you, we bought a decent van ( so we thought) fitted it out and then boom! I would get a professional diagnostic on any van I buy in the future. It’s running fine now .

I had a contribution / ballance issue with cylinder 1 . Hoped it was an injury or but turns out before I had the van done the head gasket and timing chain was done badly, basically I need a recon engine. It lasted 5 years and had 130k on it. Haven’t had the quote but over a barrel as the engines already dismantled. At least I’ll have a “new engine” and not have to make another van

Coolant loss Citroen relay 2.0 LWB , sniff test shows dark green, no smoke from a back starts well, no milky cap on engine. Been told it’s head gasket? What where your symptoms?

Coolant system pressuring and spitting coolant out the cap as pressure increased. No milky substance either. All ran fine with no smoke. I thought it may have been the EGR cooler, but garage stated it was head gasket.

Big ouch on the repair bills, Dave. I was 4K in repairs last year when my adblue system failed twice and I was mercilessly ripped off by the vauxhall main stealer ( never again and lesson learned) It wasnt Viv's fault that my local vauxhall dealer was such a ripoff so I still call her Viv-i-van ( though Last year was tempted to change that to Viv-i-cant lol) Still, when you have an absolute passion for your van......its gotta be done and just as you do with your newly renamed van, I do love mine. Loved the video and despite the cost you must have coughed up, I'm glad you still kept your chin up. Good to know there ARE good guys out there in the garage trade. I have to say my experience with Vauxhall- both with the main stealer and the rubbish shoddy (cue evil laugh) vauxhall company "customer- dis service" have disenchanted me greatly. It seems its local independents that look to be more reliable than the 120 quid an hour robber barrons. Anyhoo, both of us now have vans that are allowing us to bimble and have fun- though Ive yet to do much video on my channel. ..... spent so muchf ixing her I couldnt afford the video gear 🤣 . Hopefully next near..... brilliant video. Great parking spot and hope all remains good with Chit-ron.... though I do think you should name it back to what it was lol . Best regards- Kenny

Hey Kenny, wow, I'm not surprised at that bill, although I must say, if you look at the majority of main dealers now, there seems to be a pattern emerging with targets and profit. The by product of this is 95% independent garages are drastically rammed with work. 1) because you get the same, if not, better service. 2) they're alot cheaper. And yes main stealer is probably the choice of words. Touch wood, so far, the van seems to be running better than it was originally. Here's to more adventures 🍻

Euro 6 engines are the future they say😂 Il have to keep watching Brendon explores in his trusty 1.9 vivaro. It's getting a bit boring, watching all these newer campers youtubers have brought breaking down. Read up on the ambulance's breakdown rates since euro 6 was introduced. You should of kept the vivaro Dave. Fingers crossed the citreon behaves for you now🤞

Keep looking out for cam chain conversion. Hopefully someone does a kit soon. Probably will be in America first. I went to a transit custom 2.2 euro 5. I kept my vivaro 1.9 because of problems. I've still got both. I trust the vivaro the most. It doesn't breakdown. I think I'd give up before I'd invest into euro 6. How the government have connected the use of old reliable diesel's too the next election is pure madness.
