Great video. I noticed my irons were great, but my driver started to get away from me and I wondered what was happening. Then, in this video, you stated about turning the left shoulder down. When I picked up my iron and swung and then picked up my driver and swung I realized I was not doing that with the driver and it was making me come extremely inside! @@allanbenoit8305 that is very common… the distance away from the ball increasing (as it does feel so natural to want to do that!). Good spot well done. You might want to just grip down an inch on your driver after doing this to help everything else “shorten” back to your neutral

Thanks for your driver/duck hooking segment. I purchased a new offset driver & 3 wood recently... Now I'm hooking ( not snap hooks ) on a regular basis and have resorted to a cut swing in order to find fairways. Probably a dumb buy, but shots all fly with a draw or hook. Jim/ port Charlotte FL

Awesome tips, taking it to the Course on Friday, i was hitting it so straight and long for a few months and after watching this, yes, it seems I have drifted too far away from ball, and nasty snap and duck hooks became frequent with Driver, Woods and 3 hybrid, the short irons have been good, only hit them 90% but the long clubs, trying to give them 100% got me in trouble left and sometimes blocked right but dead straight, I haven't seen anything fade in a very long time. This duck hook sure made golf a little unpleasant. I just subscribed and will suss out more of your tips sometime. But for now, I will get closer. Cheers

exactly ,hooks are due to the hands moving while the torso doesnt.To avoid an hook hands and torso must move together at the same speed
@Runofthemill774 ай бұрын
So, for those of us who know all this already, have done all this and still hook / draw it- Best advise is your swing is already fine- just add a slight increase in pressure in your lead ring finger and pinky. You’ll hit it straight again with every club and even be able to hit fade
@murdochmcewangolf4 ай бұрын
@@Runofthemill77 thank you for the comment. It’s really difficult without seeing the golf swing and understanding fully that golfer’s limitations.. but focusing on impact dynamics then working backwards from there is a good place to start. Ask yourself to “I’m I hooking with good contact?” Or are these toe hooks? A fade can only buy hit successful if path and face support it.. understanding what it might take for you to be in those positions is also with a pause and think moment. How are your irons and say hybrid? It’s rare but has happened before where that driver just isn’t the right spec compared to the success of the rest of the set.

Hi again Murdoch, I notice in this video, (and I’ve also noticed in in other videos) that when setting up your posture you position the lean angle by touching your knees - presumably to establish the correct “arm hang”. I’m assuming this move is a general setting and not specific to the driver alone. Can you please elaborate or point me to the video where this setup routine is covered. Thanks again for your videos.

Thanks so much Murdoch. FYI, I too was struggling with the duck snap hook and tried your setup recommendations today. For context, last week I was trying different drivers because it was suggested that a new driver could sort out some of my driver issues. My playing partners were in awe as I drove straight and consistently and questioning the logic of looking at alternate drivers. The issue I was facing was that the ball was slowly creeping further away. The arm hand drew me toward the ball and applied the right angles to my posture. I told them that Murdoch just saved me $AUD800!!

@murdochmcewangolf3 ай бұрын
It’s about being correct for you (everyone will be a little different).. factors like weight distribution, arm length come into play too. But ultimately as we get older and lose flexibility, or are overcoming a lower back injury, moving a little farther away seems to make sense… it’s also more comfortable, and can feel powerful! These temptations lead to being off. Each time you play, have a little check before the first ball, and perhaps a couple of no club drills 👌🏼👌🏼

@@knudson6769 having irons react like this is rare but it’ll be the same concept. With irons you need the strike down approach complete check ball position and stance width is correct for you. The mind set is a “downward trap” so practice swing and get little divots.. if you push into a door frame, or tree stump with your clubhead, with a clearing left hip primary thought then you’ll get the idea. 👍🏼

@murdochmcewangolfАй бұрын
@@pukkapeter well done. Sometimes it’s a blip. You see the likes of Rory be off only slightly.. if you’re a long hitter you don’t need to be far off at all to produce this hook. Try my “blueprint” approach perhaps were you try and make your good swing a feeling you can “mark” then clone another… then another.. this is a great way of creating an intense feeling of your swing that you can reproduce. You can then understand better when your swing is a little off.
