This is only a half wave (simple) amp... As your power supply is only 0 to +12V, only the positive section of the audio will pass. The negative will not. Audio has both. You would either need another set of BJT and a 0 to -12V supply (push-pull/class AB) or a voltage divider to add around 6V to the input so both halves of the signal could be amplified (class A).

Yes some KZbinrs are so lazy to read the parts list. Or to even look for them. Those are the same people that are going to go out purchase a soldering iron and put together this basic amplifier? Makes me wonder. They're already posting questions and everything is right there in the description. They could also do a web search and find many Supply chains that will come with directions on how to build a basic unit. Dayton audio for instance they have just about any components you could think of. Basic beginner Goods perfect.

This is a pretty cool demonstration of how simple an amplifier can be. But it’s really not very useful. First, it’s low gain. Most transistor amplifiers have a voltage gain stage as standard transistors are limited to gain of about ten to one. Second, this is a class A amplifier which means that the transistors are always on, sucking current and making heat. Third, the input impedance is very low which taxes the input source. I would be very careful plugging an expensive smartphone into this amp and trying to crank the volume. Having said all that, it is an impressive demonstration of minimalism and an analysis of the circuit would make a good basic amplifier tutorial.

Muito bom para montar. numa plaquinha de circuito impresso. Basta ter um kit para circuito impresso. 1 furador de placa - riscador cortador de placa, uma prensa q vem junto com o kit. É so imagiar essa ideia e fazer o citcuito. Para isso, você precisa de percloreto de ferro e caneta para desenhar as trilhas no circuito.O percloreto de ferro, pode ser pacote pequeno 250grmas que da para vários circuitos. Sorry, and no personal offence, the concept is completely wrong. Either or both the speakers and transistors will be damaged within 5 mins. if the 12V supply has adequate current to keep at 12V. High quiescent DC current will pass through the woofer voice coil, the BJT, and the toroid continuously. Say, if it is 4ohm voice coil and 12V supply, the "optimum" DC current will be 1.5A each channel (12V/2/4ohm for maximum swing), dissipating 9W in each speaker and transistor (thus 36W in whole system). But it only delivers 4.5W audio power each channel before smokes. The sound will be bad before the woofers' death, as the voice-coils willl be off-centered due to the 1.5A DC current. In your circuit, the toroids act as nothing but a shorting wire, as the inductance is too low (uH range) for the operating frequency. The circuit can be modified a bit to make it really works: replacing the toroid pairs by large gapped inductor (>200mH and withstanding 1.5A current without saturation, means a silicon-iron core weights in kilograms), and a pair of 10000uF 16V capacitors to block the DC current to the expensive woofers. Just similar to class-A single-ended 300B amplifier circuits.

This will not sound very good, it's just the power output stage. Where is the voltage amplification first? Why no output caps removing the DC offset? Also, the two pots would be off better use if they were in a 1 master volume + 1 balance configuration. At max volume the input is going straight to ground just through the 0,7 base-emiter voltage drop, no current limit - I'm not sure if this will end well if the audio source has a lower output impedance than a typical smartphone audio jack. Seriously, I simulated this even in LTSpice and the output waveform at max volume has nothing to do with a proper sine wave - it is mostly inductive spikes. If you want to see a sine wave, the max output amplitude at 12V Vcc is 3V + 12V offset. Also, this has max amplification at ~100kHz (~30dB), 9dB at 1kHz and -18dB at 50Hz. Not very linear...
