Mr. Hanson...jab, kick...do whatever you can to survive. In a self defense class this lady said eww..I can't stab someone in their eye with my keys...so I showed her my scar from a knife that took 2 surgeries to fix. Months to stop hurting...I said it is you or them, take your pick. I truly appreciate your time and teaching. Everyone should learn to protect themselves and their family.

I was an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AKA paramedic) for 8 years. If you cut the carotid artery, the opponent will lose consciousness in 5-10 SECONDS. Death will occur in 30seconds or so after that. Be prepared to get "splashed" with blood. The only other artery that will kill them quicker is the subclavian artery. But, if you haven't taken anatomy and physiology under the instruction of a medical professional, then go for the sides of the throat on either side of the larynx. (Adam's apple)

Looks like an excellent training routine for practicing the use of a tactical pen as well.

Careful. Just keep in mind, it's a close range weapon and if it's for self defense it's likely that the other one is aggressive, more experienced, on drugs or whatever.

Thanks for that. Keep safe and God bless!

This would also make a decent Tactical Pen drill.

Excluding the tape roll (good stuff, btw), it's pretty much how I started my "knife education". I've been doing this over weeks intil it was fully moved to my subconsciousness. There's simply too many variables during the fight to process->react everything. The only "egde" (eheh...i'm sorry. It's so lame I liked it) you have is doing things automatically. Some remarks: 1) Noobs! Just get dull polymer/aluminum training knife before you operate on your appendix doing "the John Wayne" at your home gym. 3 stitches in my palm said my old coach was right. Train with damned tea spoon if you have one. 2) Grips are a separate book. Hammer grip allows for firm grip and you can stab fast and hard if you need, but I'd use something bigger with bezel to stop your hand from sliding on cutting edges in case the knife gets stopped by anything hard (Classic KaBar 1219 is perfect for just that.) "Ninja grip ( blade out) was popular with Navy Seals a few years back, because it allows you to parry while protecting your forearm. It also works in clinch even if you have big blade (again: 1219), but it limits the range of your swing and that 1 inch can be your life/death. I'll STFU,because i could be telling the tell until the morning. Stay safe out there. P.S.: This channel is my new bedtime chill.

Body opponent bag B.O.B. is nice for training with training knives and sticks.

Part One--pull and stab, stab, stab. Part Two--RUN AWAY! For the next video, is it possible to demonstrate a safe withdrawal? I can't run backwards faster than my enemy runs forward--and at MCRD San Diego I lost a pugil stick battle on a bridge because I stepped to the rear where I was blind instead of where I could see and I fell into the pond. Taking my eyes off my enemy is bad but I also have to look at where I'm going. What is your suggestion to complete breaking contact after inflicting a few stabs? That drill would work with pepper spray, a stun gun, a tactical pen, or a TASER, with some differences in distance.

Good technique. Problem is, most people lack the force of will to shove a sharpened piece of metal into another human’s flesh. That’s why I advocate for carrying pepper spray. No one hesitates to use that because they know it won’t injure or kill.

😂🤣.... yeah, you definitely don't want to cut anything important down there!
