Wow... I bought The Wok and made this recipe. I'm Texan, so cumin is a familiar ingredient in our Mexican-influenced cuisine. I've never imagined a Chinese dish would combine lamb and cumin, but this dish exceeded all expectations. Mandy's recipes are so often full of surprises, and this is yet another of those startling flavor combinations. Yummy and repeatable.

Great recipe. I made this with a very tough cut of lamb and the baking soda worked wonders tenderizing it; good technique. Don't be afraid to add even more cumin. Be careful not to burn the chilis (although it's still really good if they end up mostly carbon). Mandy, please keep those technique-heavy, complex, authentic recipes coming!!!!!!!!

Tried it , added few ingredients of my own like some roasted sesame seeds, 2tbsp of chili garlic sauce ! It turned out sooo soo good 😍 loved it , I’m a graduate of Xinjiang medical university and I really miss chinese food. It really suffice my cravings 👌

Dear Dessie(Wollo), Her diet is so simple and mixtures of small quantities of meat and vegetables. When was the last time you you saw a recipe with lamb for an SEATO people. But she is in the land sheep, goat and cattle, just like Dessie.

It's difficult to find lamb in my area, but I'll attempt with pork. Regardless, I know my family will be excited. Also, we are in the market for a rice cooker. Do you or anyone have suggestions? For a family of 5. Thank you for your videos, we love them!!!!!!

Did you ever consider exchanging the cumin with rosemary? Rosemary fits very well with lamb too.

Just made it. It’s very tasty! BUT it was not quick for me because it took forever for me to cut the meat. I think I didn’t have a good knife or a cutting board

Is it Baking Powder or Baking Soda you are using please? Your written recipe states Baking Powder but you state i the video baking soda. :) Easy to do but which is the correct ingredient please :)

This seems a bit xinjiang style. The Turkic Uyghurs uses a lot of cumin in their cooking, and lamb. I'm not a fan of lamb, can I use beef in stead?

Soy sauce is very salty. I never use both on the same recipe, soy salt and salt.
