I used to work with a bean sprouts company. They gave me a box full bean sprouts whenever I visit their factory. Did you know that the fresh bean sprouts taste x10 better. It's crispy and sweet. By the time you buy it from grocery store, it lost the sweetness. Btw the company has to take the products off the shelf after la week. There are so much food waste.

My friend and I were talking the other day about literally saying "oh hell no!" To convenience foods that are way more work than they should be. He was unwilling to heat chicken and sauce separately then toss them together. Lol

Tooo much sugar. Asians are not so obese, but they have high amount of diabetes, CKD, CVD, etc. Orange peels are not digested by body (if i remember correctly). Unsure if thats negative or positive. About the sugar crazyness. At least maybe consider swapping that sugar poison out with Allulose, Erythriol, Erythriol/Monk fruit blend or something similar.

Been working in Chinese restaurants for decades, this is absolutely not how it should be done. Batter should be a wet batter, not dry. The sauce should be prepared way ahead of the pork so the pork spends as little time as possible in the sauce. Keep in mind we want the pork/batter to be crunchy, not soggy. Stir frying everything will turn the batter into a mush. Sorry, just calling a spade a spade.

Hi Mandi! Love this technique for a quick dinner. Question - why not boil the noodles in the soup broth? Thanks!

Looks yummy, can't wait to make this. In San Antonio Texas there is a Chinese restaurant named Hung Fong, and in the 1970s as a child my family would go there for dinner on special occasions. At that time their Wonton soup's dumplings were so fresh. I thought every Chinese restaurant here in the States made homemade dumplings but I was wrong. I haven't had soft homemade Wonton soup dumplings since the mid 1970s. Now, all Wonton soup dumplings I've had have been thick and gummy from sitting in the broth all day. I haven't ordered Wonton soup in years. Now, I can make it at home.

My first exposure to bitter melon was in a homemade Vietnamese soup. I thought something in the spoon was trying to bite my tongue off! That was almost 50 years ago. This recipe makes me wanna try again.

Mandy, this was the first recipe of yours I tried. I just made it tonight. I had to make some substitutions based on what I had and the vegetables my family likes (I used pork cutlets cut into strips, and I used bok choy and a red pepper. I cooked the pork first until almost done and removed it, then cooked bok choy stems and red pepper. Started cooking the noodles at the same time as the vegetables and when they were done I added the pork back, turned off heat and added noodles, bok choy leaves, and sauce) and I just have to say: WOW! It was delicious, the kids loved it too, and I was impressed that the simple ingredients produced such great flavour and tender meat! Thank you! 😊
