Really nice plan on making one formy dog but is used out side where it can be in rain might want to have the roof pitch the other way so dog can go in or out with out all the water coming down right in front of door and splashing in the door will help keep inside dry

came to the comments to say exactly the same thing :) Where I live it rains a lot and we tend not to have areas already under some kind of cover to put the kennel, you'd definitely want the pitch going the other way, and maybe a little porch type thing over the entrance to stop the rain blowing straight in

You should note that the Slope of the Dog House should angle downward in the back if using the dog house outside where it will be rained on instead of the way that you built this one sloping down in the front since it will be under cover. Sloping it downwards on the back will allow for rain to run off of the back instead of to the front doorway area like it will with the way this one is built.

should have built it with an inner partition wall on the left side of the door inside, just like it is isn't very effective at keeping warmth. With the partition wall the dog will have another wall to block the cold, wind, and whatever else. Will be an easy upgrade at least.

I have a suggestion, why don't you install under deck drain pans, that way The water that falls down from the deck will drip into the pan and out then to the outside of the deck so the dog kennel doesn't get wet at all

An idea could be just buy some foam insulation and glue some layers together, and then drill out holes for the water. Then use another piece as a lid. But it might be easier and cheaper to just buy a small cooler.

Looks nice, beautiful job - but no good. It’s too big, should be only few inches larger than the dog ( each side ). The body heat is dispersed in the large space instead staying close to the dog’s body. Ask any veterinarian. Especially if you live in a cold climate.

This would be an excellent outdoor storage design. I like the hinged roof, some roofing, and some treated wood or treatment for it, and wow, that's a heck of a build. Lucky dog!!! :D Like the video, seen a plastic bottle video from 2014, and had to look for more! Good stuff, liked the built it too big for the door footage, most would have cut that out I think, but it made some great content!
