Simple Man (Lynyrd Skynyrd)
I am Scott Raines, guitarist/vocalist for APB (Artimus Pyle Band). In this video, I dissect the guitar parts in this great song.
My apologies for the lack of fret markers on this guitar. It didn't hit me until I was editing. However, the searching will make you a better. Enjoy!

Love your style and all your lessons. Glad your hand is better !!!! I want to set up a small home practice area and wondered if you had any quick tips on gear? I have an SG from the 70s a couple of ovation electric acoustic and a Taylor 614 acoustic I’ve been playing for a long time but mostly acoustic want to play both again and just practice and play mostly by myself. I know that’s a large question but I didn’t know if you had a website that might list out some of your practice gear. Thank you Scott.

Thanks for doing this Scott. An absolutely beautiful and moving song. However, the tricky part of this song is the order of the picking while cycling through the C, G, & Am chords. Would you kindly provide this info. I tried slowing down the video with the KZbin settings but it is difficult to see exactly what is going on. Thanks - Steve

When I got the notification about this video, I couldn’t wait to watch it. Very cool. I haven’t gotten to see APB yet, so it was fun to see and hear that Hughes guitar, too. By the way, if possible, I think it would be awesome if you and Jerry could do a video together.. on Gimme Three Steps! Anyway, keep the videos coming. They’ve been a great source of relief (for lack of a better word) from all the crazy stuff that’s been going on in the world lately. 👍🏼

Absolute GREAT job Scott. I know it inside and out. You nailed it.. This song I requested to be played at my funeral. My absolute favorite REAL Skynyrd song of all time and I love them all. I think it’s absolutely humanly impossible to write such a good song but Lynyrd Skynyrd did. I 8 tracked myself 20 plus years ago playing everything but the drums and the singing. I still have it on Cassette to this day.

Hey, Thanks so very much for the amazing lessons! Would you mind telling us what your using on the Kemper for the tone? In The Needle And The Spoon lesson you mentioned using MBritt's 72 Marshall and 2 minutes later I had the same tone which was amazing, but I'm not sure what your using here.
@seraines
@seraines Жыл бұрын
Peavey Mace (MBritt). Intro/verse: “Clean” has very slight breakup, but I roll off guitar volume. Gain is set to 2.3. Chorus: amp gain to 3 and I add green scream 4.5 drive (guitar a bit rolled off) to pre amp pedal chain. Solo, amp gain 3, add green scream (drive 5) & rotary speaker(12.0cm distance, 100%mix) in pre amp pedal chain and in post amp loop, add pure poster with +2 volume. Try that and let me know how it works.

Yes Scott, we would love to see a lesson on this song. I hear Ed's neat little stuff all through it - the pinch harmonics at the beginning, the harmony at the end of the first solo, the hammer on in one of the verses -- all cool stuff we'd like to see if we got right! Thanks! And in return for what you do, if you would like to add a little preaching in your weekly schedule, check out my page -- just Bible preaching from a country boy in North Carolina!

Thanks for doing these, I’ve learned 3 songs off you in a couple of days! I’m not a natural guitar player as I’ve no ear for it. At first I was dismissive of the way you do it as I’ve only ever learned from note for note lessons but the way you do it forces me to use my ears and helps with my phrasing no end. I’ve come on more in a few days than I have in years! Thanks again. Russ.
