Thank You this is one of my favourite tracks on this album alongside Big Sleep and New Gold Dream 81,82,83,84 but you not discovered THEME FOR GREAT CITIES it will please you more than you know.

The great Herbie Hancock features on this track and his solo kicks in at around the 3:47 mark. Apparently he was next door and popped into the Simple Minds recording session and was attracted by the bass line. Your in exalted company Tre😊

That’s what happened. What a lovely cameo on already a great track. Lifted it from album track to a live favorite for almost 40 years

The way the beat leads from 6 minutes to7 minutes is awesome. So subtle but just adds the perfevt funk

I rememebr the first time i heard this. I must have played this for hours. There is some about the beat where it just stomps after the original beat section in each bar. Its just subline. Herbie hancock gold

Already the best track on their best album, and then Herbie Hancock just slides in and throws stardust all over it...

If you want their best bassline....and no vocals at all, check out Theme For Great Cities. An absolute belter of a track and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed

Yes - absolutely brilliant. It is a travesty that work never received the recognition it deserved.

Been binging on your Simple Minds reactions. Have you done Theme for Great Cities. No singing. Everything you like about the band is there.

Now i get what you say you dont always like Jim Kerr's voice..i noticed a lot of your old simple.midns videos you have reacted to arent the best simple minds tracks. Lol. Ones from 1993-2010. Not sure what they were doing during those years. I dont like much. 1978-1991 were the years. Which i think u liked his voice on pretty much all of them. Like u said in those days he sung more like instrument into the mix. Reverb. Haunting on top of tracks. Excellent singer

One of the greatest sell out bands in history. This song is such a poor imitation of their pre 1982 output. If you want bass and ethereal melodies you cannot go past “SONS AND FASCINATION/SISTER FEELINGS CALL. Sorry pflynn if I hurt your feelings. Let’s just say the New Gold Dream album was the beginning of the end. Ironic really

Didn't hurt my feelings.I agree that they sold out with overly commercial pap after this but although they are not my favourite band this album is hypnotic and still stands up as one of the best of the eighties.

pflynn581 That is where we again differ. They were my favourite band.
