@Bruce Findlay wonderful memories there Bruce! Summertime in Australia. Not a bad place to be in December! There's a great picture of you and the band when you were receiving your first Gold Discs for the New Gold Dream album in Sydney '82. I used it for the upload of the Manly Vale Hotel gig. You all look so happy and young!! All the best Bruce!

@@ArtAndTalk Great memories indeed....We really did fall in love with Australia and the people...We were young and happy then ( I was actually closer to 40 than 30 mind you...but the band were all in their early 20s)...still happy, just not so young. Hope you are well and certainly Australia seems to be coping so much better than the UK with #covid19. I loved the Manly Vale gigs...Jim and I went to see Echo and The Bunnymen on a night off on our first tour...brilliant. I ❤Australia.

@Bruce Findlay more great memories! Great stuff! I'm sure all the fans will enjoy reading your posts on here. I know I do. I'm fine thanks and yes the Aussies are doing better with the virus than us. Like most countries seem to! God bless the scientists for the vaccines, no thanks to politicians. One of my last memories of the Barrowland in the 80s was Echo and the Bunnymen. Christmas time '85. Amazing band live. Macca is something else. Remind me of The Doors! Bye the way 40 is young now that I'm in my 50s. Ha-ha! 😉👍🙏

I was just thinking the same exact thing 5 minutes ago. I'm streamlining Simple Minds Concerts from 1981. There live music is sooo much better than the studio version. Not to say that their studio versions were bad, but the live sounds are way better. I think it's because of all the good energy and good vibes the band soaks in. It propelled them to be even better. I've sang in front of crowds before. When people are cheering and dancing, the whole band and atmosphere is elevated. The band definitely feeds off of the good energy. Wouldn't you agree?

I really like this show... because of the sound trouble. It's like an instrumental/extended live version of sons & fascination. Also the band was on their top : groovy but not commercial.

I love ALL Simple Minds Songs! If I break it down Jim Kerr is one of the Best Vocalists Ever to Sing! Good Range, blends his Voice in with the beat (Very Important). Charlie's Guitar is also one of the Best. The Bass player and Drummer are in Sync all the time! 1981 is my Favorite Simple Minds Repertoire

Nobody plays that Guitar like Charlie Burchill! Noooo Body! When Jim Kerr was singing like this I assumed that it was almost like a miracle because he's got a good American Accent which is really unbelievable considering the way that he talks with to the Audience with his Scottish Accent!
