Simple Minds - New Gold Dream (Maxi) 1982
Producer: Pete Walsh
New gold dream,
She is the one in front of me, the siren and the ecstasy.
New gold dream,
Crashing beats and fantasy, setting sun in front of me.
New gold dream,
And the world goes hot,
And the cities take,
And the beat goes crashing,
All along the way.
She is your friend until the ocean breaks.
And when you dream, dream in the dream with me,
And when you dream, dream in the dream with me.
81 - 82 - 83 - 84.
81 - 82 - 83 - 84.
New gold dream,
Sun is set in front of me, worldwide on the widest screen.
New gold dream,
Burning bridge and ecstasy, crashing beats and fantasy.
Dream in the dream with me.
And the world goes hot,
And the cities take,
And the beat goes crashing,
All along the way.
She is your only friend until the ocean breaks.
And when you dream, dream in the dream with me,
And when we dream, dream in the dream with me,
81 - 82 - 83 - 84.
81 - 82 - 83 - 84.
New gold dream,
The siren and the ecstasy, she's the one in front of me.
New gold dream...

Well done - and said, Nicholas. Mothers and Fathers are precious gifts that leave us far too soon. My youngest 18 yo daughter Natalie and I both had such a wonderful love for many of the same songs. Unfortunately, she and I have lost contact and I miss sharing these things with her. I know that she would love this song.

💜Just reading your sentiments that echo my own.. this came onto an iTunes mix that played in a beautifully unexpectedly way, whilst I was city walking in my lunch hour today and I was transported back in time and forward too .. yes sounds like the future, even now.. Think it’s the the constancy of Jim Kerr’s deep resonating vocals.. and the soaring moments of guitar and electronic sounds .. gives a feeling of hope. Certainly uplifted me in the winter sunshine today 😀

It's unbelievable. I have had my own recording studio for over 20 years and make a lot of music. I was very interested in music. So I know a lot of songs, at least from hearing them. Even if I don't know their names. But I've always loved a synth zither melody. Usura Open your Mind. But I just had to learn that it is much older and from Simple Minds. Simple Minds are one of my favorite bands from the 80's. That earned her even more thumbs up. As I said incredible...👍👍👍

Utah Saints also released an excellent stadium house cover before that, in 1992. No guitars but still quite epic and the vocals are in that similar style which reminds me of A. Eldritch of Sisters of Mercy. Simple Minds musically still sound amazing live, but Jim's vocals for this song no longer have that seductive dark gloom that to me is essential to the song.

Extraordinary music. Jim Kerr wasn’t really a singer, he was a genuine vocal stylist - he wasn’t a dancer, but he moved so well on these numbers. I saw them a couple of times, they’d spend ages building it up to a big drop, ‘And the beat goes crashing!’, they were somewhat ahead of their time. Haven’t heard that in ages!

My best friend Eric the Red's second story bedroom overlooking the Indian river, the constant southeast wind gusting through the room; the both of us mesmerized laying on his bed, turntable blasting the entire album-just enthralled at the modern celtic drug which is Simple Minds. If you want to see that as blasphemy, fine with me, who's trolling in that case, who's the prick con balls.... Never said I didn't like the track in itself, as long as I don't have to look at the singer playing Jezus Christ in front of dedicated followers. Fortunately, some wisdom and more acceptable stage presence came with the years. All hope is not idle.
