As an American teenager in the 80's I was flooded on US radio by Michael Jackson, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Duran, U2, Madonna, etc etc.. All fine music. Almost 51, and yes this was the golden age of music. Can´t get out of it, or won´t. There´s houndreds and houndreds of awesome songs from that time, and I keep on listen to them. No matter which type it is. Pop, rock, electronica or danish. It´s just impossible to decide what is best. Well some are better than other, but hey it ´s the 80s and you just have to respect how music was made back then. And I will forever remember it until I die. The only thing that scares me, is that the great artists from our youth now are disappering one by one. A little peace inside me break off, everytime one of them leaves us. Too bad but difficult to escape from. Hugs to all that might see things the same way.. -K from CPH/DK

Shine on, shine the light on me In all of my life so that much more I see In the light of his love In the light of reflection What a world this world Sometimes oh so it seems Eyes to the sky In the silver gift friendship Glittering prize Is the price of lost love They can remember quiet side of midnight They can remember attraction of fame Like a glittering prize I saw you up on a clear day First taking heart Then our last breath away Always came a time Time was by your side We were spending time We were staring out Catch me in a dream Captured all in heart We were spending time We were staring out Could there ever be Ever more than one Called an act of love Can you never stop? Shine on, shine the light on me In all of my life so that much more I see Like a glittering prize I saw you up on a clear day First taking hearts Then our last breath away Only on a clear day Coming in on our lives Only on a clear day Coming in on our life We can remember quiet side of midnight We can remember attraction of fame Like a glittering prize I saw you up on a clear day First taking heart Then our last breath away See it in the eyes Satellite sky We were spending time We were staring out Take in, take in more Endless breath away We were staring out Now we're staring in Could there ever be Ever more than one Called an act of love Can you never stop? Shine on, shine the lights on me In all of my life, so that much more I see Like a glittering prize I saw you up on a clear day First taking hearts Then our last breath away Only on a clear day Coming in on our life Always on a clear day This is the price of love Like a glittering prize Only on a clear day

Grew up with their brilliant music. About 12 years or so ago, the organisers of the Chichester real ale and jazz festival in West Sussex, England, managed to get Jim and the band along. Playing to just a few hundred people they were utterly fantastic. Without doubt a real night to remember.

In 1982 I was a sophomore in high school and thought that glittering gold model was indeed a prize for any teenager. Now 53, she still is. Wow! This song gained greater significance to me as I went on the graduate from a midwestern school with an iconic gold lady atop a dome. Simple Minds is a musical treasure. Hail, Scotland and the City of Glasgow. Truly beautiful.
