Yes! It acts as an interface so it's literally your ipad/iPhone and USB cable plugged direct. Nothing else.
@darrenhirst99002 жыл бұрын
In settings you turn off sound and local control so it can then be used as a midi controller.

What's the action like on the MODX8? I'm considering this or a used S90 (perhaps even a used kurz pc3x), I know the action's light but worried about it being flimsy. Any advice?
@ColinWiebe4 жыл бұрын
The action is not flimsy at all, as a matter if fact it is quicker than the S-90 and more like the Motif. I play a lot of rock piano (Jerry Lee Lewis style) and the MODX response is quicker and allows me play faster. With all the other features and sounds it’s hard to beat.

Does the keybed on the MODX8 feel cheap and bad to play on? I've also heard people complaining about the noise that the key action makes.

I quite like the keybed on MODX 8. In fact it plays a bit quicker than my Motif XF8. It does not feel cheap to me.

Hello Colin, is there any way to disable the sensitivity of the keyboard, meaning whatever the force the volume keeps the same level, with eventual different allocations to specific sounds or parts of the keyboard?
@ColinWiebe5 жыл бұрын
RL@VD That would usually be attained by adjusting the velocity of the sounds themselves. You may want to do a search on Yamahasynth.com for details.

How this keyboard compares to the Yamaha DGX660?

Hi Roger, I’ve not played a DGX660 myself but it’s sold as a home solution and not a pro keyboard. Check the Yamaha website for details.

I have both the MX49 and the MODX61 , take away the MX49 works very well with Cubase, the MODX61 requires a little more work. Videos from BoBeats, Dom Sigalas (Dr Mix) have been very helpful. I believe (not sure though) that you can take your patches from the S90 and move them over using an online converter. Bosendorfer and Chick Corea's sound library is free, I recommend downloading them both, selecting the patches you like, and deleting the rest to keep storage space, you can always recall them from your USB drive later (takes seconds)

If you look closely, the "- Transpose +" text has a dark border around it, just like the shift key has around its whole perimeter. Everything that is marked with that border is activated with shift + the labeled key.

Hi William I am sure you will like the action (Keybed) much better. As for the sound you’ll have the same piano sound as the MX88 plus you get added voices for a richer piano sound. I use the S700 sound which I love!

What's the feel of the keybed like compared to the s90 or ex88?
@ColinWiebe4 жыл бұрын
The MODX8 has a quicker feel than the others. I find the MX88 a bit sluggish. The S-90 I played for many years and got used to the action. I had the entire Keybed replaced due to a Yamaha recall. When I moved to the MODX I instantly felt the quicker response and lighter feel. Hope that helps
