All of these conveniences of modern life, the constant comfort, low challenge, overfed, safety netted lives, only push us farther from experiencing our one wild and precious life!

I couldn’t agree more! Modern life isn’t very rewarding in my opinion, and we have serious mental health problems these days which I believe is a direct result of the life and system we’ve created. It’s amazing how happy and content you can be with so little. I was talking to a native in Alaska one time and he said his people look at possessions as a burden, because they traveled often and carried everything on their backs. So the more stuff you had the more of an inconvenience it was. Thought that was a pretty cool way to look at life.

@@KYLESCABIN We sold it all, our house/possessions. Retired to Panama with 3 suitcases, 2 carry ons, 2 dogs. SO liberating. We have zero debt & our rent is $550 a month. We can up & move easily, any time if we want. The native in Alaska is right. Alot of "stuff" is burdensome.

@@KYLESCABIN I can confirm Kyle. I am a tech guy and I sit in front of a computer all day. I grew up in the country, it was free and simple. I want that back. It's miserable sitting here every day looking at text in a terminal. I would much rather be walking in a field or working on a tractor. I do what I have to do to have a good life, but at some point you have to find some way to leave some of this behind or get buried in the hole you are digging yourself.
@amyanderson6746 Жыл бұрын
I stayed in a similar cabin. Upstairs, there was a large 2' x 3' grate set into the floor. During the day, they had a small area rug over the grate, so the heat stayed downstairs, but when you went to bed, at night, you slid the rug away and the heat from downstairs moved up into the loft space. It worked like a charm.

Hi Kyle, thank you so much for taking the time to do video that showcase your life, no gimmicks, just pure simple snd straightforward. Your humility and humbleness shine through. This is your life, and its presented as is, and I, for one, can see it and would love to live they way you and Cierra do. You took time to answer questions, and I thank you for that. People keep chasing and worshipping other people's dreams when the simple life, like the one you leave, could get many people out of debt. My prayer for you and Cierra is to get a Well so you can have your own water. Hanging some curtains would be nice to keep the heat in. I love your cabin, and slowly, you and Cierra have turned it into a beautiful home. The loft looks great, and frankly, the whole place looks nice and cosy.Once you get the front porch covered, you could have a lot of firewood and barbecue on the porch. You could even have a place for your shoes and boots. The front porch could even be screened in to keep the bugs away. Kyle, you're so talented. You can do just about anything. I can watch you and listen to you talk all day. I always enjoy every video you put out. Sometimes I don't comment due to ill health, but trust me, I watch, and I enjoy with so much delight for e every effort you put into the hard work that comes with being KZbinr. So thank you, and may God bless you abundantly. I love ya'll for real ❤🙏

Watching you reminds me that I once had that kind of energy and ambition. I probably would have left the 4 x 8 sheets whole and sacrificed some inside space for more room behind the walls and utilized more of the wood. It amazed me to see what you accomplish in the weather and temperatures you have. When you make bedroom's upstairs, you will have to come up with a convection system or fan to circulate the air to keep it from being too warm up there while colder downstairs. I come from a family of travelers and campers, never a motel. When my brothers and I gather around a fire, we do pots of chili, beef stew, or ham and beans. Our steaks and ribs are usually done' on a charcoal grill for better control and keeping things out of the fire. I have to agree, camping away from internet, cell phone service, and any news source is the best life and relaxation possible today... 😎

The guy who mentioned having curtains or blinds was really spot on. My first house had no window coverings and adding blinds made a huge difference. It was my dream house and fully paid for, but it eventually wore on me, so I sold it and have a big 5th wheel trailer now. Even the blinds in here make a big difference when it’s cold. Maybe Cierra would like to take that on as a project. You can get a decent sewing machine for $100 and always find different materials/fabrics on clearance. It’s just a thought. I love the channel and wish you guys the best.

Thanks for this video! Informative as always and ever inspirational. Like you, I was first inspired as a young man by Dick Proenneke. Since then living a simpler life more involved with nature has been the cure for the stress and anxiety of being a builder in a city. I like what you had to say about those living in the concrete jungle potentially missing out on a simpler, more fulfilling life. I can attest to that as someone who lives something of a dual life. When I'm building in the city the only thing I enjoy long term about it is my work. When I'm out in nature and I can't smell or hear the sounds of the cities the only thing I don't enjoy is that I don't have the ability to stay longer!
