Although this is only PART of what you do, it still blows my mind that people get to do this earn a living creating work like this. There's satisfaction that I get just seeing this BTS of this all come together. Greatly appreciate your thought process through these. Btw, the 50mm F1.2 is just such a joy. If I had an FX6 I'd probably rock that and a 24-105mm.

Great vid! Just got the sigma 35mm 1.4 dg dn. I talked with some sigma reps at recent photo convention here in Nashville, and they confirmed that the glass in the art series is the same in the cine lens. I use the auto focus features on the Sony cams a bunch so will be working to get a full set of the art lenses, now that they just dropped the 50mm 1.4

I’ve got the Sony 50mm GM and it’s my go to lens on my FX6 for interviews. It’s great with the lens breathing compensation turned on, but could be a bit distracting with your FX3 without the LBC. Depends on what you’re shooting!

Thanks so much Nathan! Big fan of your Channel. Thanks for posting such great content. Hey Joel, thanks for the awesome video. One thing I was hoping for some advice on -- positioning the 600d's like you do, do you ever get flare into the lens? Are there any tips you can give to avoid flare? I can see one of the cameras has a matte box on it, so I'm sure that helps! But the other one doesn't seem to have a matte box.
@JoelGabrielsen Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! We were getting a slight flare on the FX6. We did try to raise the lights up a littler higher to lessen the flare. If we had more time I probably would have setup a black solid flag on a stand right above the camera. A matte box can sometimes help to reduce flare but for something like this we needed a bigger flag. Something like this would be perfect - amzn.to/3MQKgOL Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!!!

@@JoelGabrielsen Thanks Joel! I was wondering if I was the only one getting that sort of issue. I guess it's a matter of just playing with the angles till it all works, or at least until you can get a compromise you can live with.

Curious...why didn't you light from the front?
@JoelGabrielsen Жыл бұрын
Great question! We were trying to get a little more depth with the lighting and do a far side key for the main camera. Just like when you shoot an interview. You want the shadow side of the face to add more contrast. If we would have placed lights in the front the whole image would wash out and be a little more flat.

First, I’m enjoying these videos so thanks. For e-mount lenses, I like the sigma art series. Their version 2 are rolling out. Gerold Undone has a good video comparing them to G masters. But I got a used basic set of version 1 and I think they look nice and are a good value. The auto focus works plenty good for video imo. Version 2 are smaller, lighter, and have less chromatic aberrations. So if I had the budget I’d go for those. But version 1 still looks good!

The Sigma DG DN primes are best bang for bucks, while the Sony GM are just pure perfection, especially when it comes to Autofocus. I personally have a mix of both, Sony 24mm 1.4 and 50mm 1.2 and the Sigma 35mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.4. Happy with both and they match really well with a little white balance adjustment. Only thing I don't like about the Sony ones, is the manual focus ring, the Sigmas feel way better
