8:18 The rotate part blows my mind, I’m going to have to watch it a few more times to really understand it. I also never knew about the transparency!

Great idea on the rotate around axis. ahhh! genius workaround. When trying to get the angle of the cut you could copy the cube from the floor then put a workplane on the angled face and paste to that workplane - and there it is in the correct angle 😁

Thank you for posting this. I followed your guide and designed some very cool hinges onto an existing box.

Yaay, another Clocksprint video! I am not a Tinkercad user, so I couldn't really follow along with the ad hoc designing. I think I understand the basics, though. Thanks!

Have you ever found a way to create hinges that print vertically? I created something that uses a metal pin hinge and I'm trying to recreate it as print-in-place, but it only beds to 90 degrees (open) and closes to 0 degrees...so I have to print it standing up on it's side. I have found various ways to make these hinges, but not yet one where you can print it standing up like that. Any advice would really be appreciated as I am really stumped on this one!

great video... sorry for my comments that follow... I wish this was a bit more explanatory, as I really love the concept. I still do not understand how I will do this on a normal rectangle box and some of the steps you took, but, maybe if I watch this a couple of more times it will come to me. One thing early on, you did a resize of the cone which then lowered the height, that did not match the "5" input. This is important because following along makes it difficult to understand that change without doing this on my own. Sorry for being a stickler, I work better with exact information and I know you did this as a quick tutorial and were winging it. So, please try not to take my comments negatively.

Hey! I found out the full resize thing, it should be alt (or option on Mac) + shift, then click the corners and drag. Hope this helps!

(FIXED! I was combining all at once, destroying the dimple, my bad!) I'm not sure what went wrong however whenever I print the hinge, the dimples do not extrude enough to fill and lock into the holes. They just completely miss. Some clarification would be great!

I was looking to 3d print a vertical hinge. What parameters should be considered to make it possible?
@Clockspring3D3 жыл бұрын
Vertical hinges need a different kind of approach entirely! If you search for Improved Kaleidocycle on MyMiniFactory you'll see an approach I've used - maybe I should put together another video :)

@@Clockspring3D Yes please. If you can do another video for that, it would be great! I will check the video that you mentioned also as well. I am a total newbie in 3d printing. Thank you for replying :)
