Well done. Thank you for sharing. I will have to give this a try.

Let me know how it goes when you do try! Always love seeing what other people shoot.

All very cool (no pun intended). Some I like for the complexity, some for the simplicity. The one at 17:15 is probably my fav simple one. Also has these kind of birds in there. The one at 17:25 is pretty nice as well. Kind of has that "traditional" snowflake look to it.

It's cool that people often see shapes in these that I never even think of!

I don't know how you do it! I'd be frozen solid attempting this! 😂

All you have to do is have an utter lack of self respect for your body's need for sleep!

Amazing! @16:20 is my favorite. When I take snowflake pictures I sometimes use a colored light above to give it colored highlights as well as using your trick to get bottom illumination. Also, you can probably change the background color in lightroom to give some variety. I like a blue or purple background.

Good choice, I really loved that one too! Super broad center and narrow branches. That's a good point about Lightroom, too. I'm not aware of a way to invert color in Camera Raw, but if I could, Photoshop wouldn't even be necessary 🤔 Do you post your photos anywhere?

@@EvanLudes I only post on Facebook, no KZbin channel like you! I might go back to Flickr one of these days.

Thanks for the explanation - this definitely looks doable! Now all I need are the snowflakes :)

It's pretty straightforward! I used to do it without a tripod/macro rails, but shooting like that for a while hurt my back lol. :) Best of luck!!

Thanks Brad! How's the winter been in Omaha so far? This was kind of our first shot of "real" cold air.

@@EvanLudes Non existent... We officially have 1" for the year, which mean Houston, New Orleans, Pensacola, etc., all have more snow than us! LOL. We are just finishing a dry multi day cold snap.

Awesome! Wanted to ask: The kit lens doesn't have manual aperture ring on the lens itself so Have you tried the trick to set aperture where you connect the lens "normally" then set the aperture like F8 and pick 30 second shutter and then shutter button -> take off the lens mid shot and then it will be on F8 to use with the flip adapter. (At least until you reconnect it to the camera "normally" again) That's one of my fav tricks :D

That's a fantastic trick and I'm glad you brought it up! I felt like it might be a little too in-the-weeds for this video, but I do indeed do something similar when shooting reverse macro. In my case, all I do is select aperture, then hold the "depth of field preview button" while taking off the lens. This locks the aperture on the lens in the same manner. And if I recall correctly, the lens stays locked at that aperture until it ever connects "normally" again. I very rarely ever don't have my lens reversed on that cam, so I haven't done it in a while!
