Another great video. That’s heartbreaking for your wife to miss that nice Walleye. We’ve all been there. Nice to see you two enjoy fishing together.

The solution to bones in the smoked sucker is to pressure can the fish after smoking. Per pint, put chunks of smoked fish into a pint jar leaving an inch of head space. Add one tablespoon each of canola oil, ketchup, and vinegar. No added salt because you brined the fish prior to smoking. Process in a pressure canner for 90 minutes at 10 lbs. pressure. There will be no bones at all! you can store the jars without refrigeration as long as they are sealed and enjoy smoked fish regularly. I also can 1/2 pints for single servings. I eat it on crackers drizzled with vinegar, made into pate', and it mades the best "tuna" sandwich you ever ate.

I’m learning how to pickle pike which breaks down the bones. I would imagine it would work on red horse and other suckers.

Absolutely works for redhorse. Our family used to smoke the small ones and pickle the big ones.

Good to see you and your better half out fishing in a video again! How do you like the yolotek? I actually moved the socket down in the deck with constant power, and mounted a permanent nav light. No more dead gopro batteries!

#2 was a silver redhorse. If you are fishing in Wisconsin the river redhorse are protected and need to be released immediately. If it is Minnesota, please release all river and greater redhorse! Keep the shorthead, silvers and goldens to smoke!! Love to see people targeting redhorse. They are my favorite

Just one outing out of Washburn. It was tough fishing due to the amount of debris in the water at the time. We did catch 3 coho and 1 herring.
